Hike-in camp sites are great and EXTREMELY private! We didn't see or hear a single person in 4 days while at the site. It was so peaceful and along the Black river. We will be visiting frequently. If you are going to camp here, the hike-in camp sites are the way to go for the best experience. - John M

While campers can enjoy the peace and quiet of the forested campground, they are also within a short driving distance of the city of Superior, providing access to groceries, restaurants, and other essential services. This balance allows campers to fully immerse themselves in nature without being completely cut off from modern conveniences.

Within Pattison State Park itself, the campground's layout ensures that many key attractions are within walking distance. Interfalls Lake, with its sandy beach, the main day-use area, and the accessible paved trail to Big Manitou Falls, are all just a stroll away from many campsites. This direct access to the park's highlights means less time driving and more time enjoying the spectacular scenery and activities. The well-maintained internal roads within the park are generally easy to navigate for vehicles of various sizes, including RVs, further enhancing accessibility for campers. The presence of clear signage and a staffed park office at the entrance also helps ensure a smooth arrival and check-in process for all visitors.

Pattison Park Campground provides a thoughtful array of services and amenities designed to enhance the comfort and convenience of campers, catering to both RVers and tent campers, as well as backpackers.

  • Campsites: The campground features 59 regular (family) campsites, with a mix of pull-through and back-in sites. There are also three secluded backpack sites for those seeking a more primitive experience.

  • Electric Hookups: 18 of the 59 family campsites offer electric hookups (30-amp service), catering to RVs and trailers. While there are no sewer or water hookups at individual sites, a sanitary dumping station is available for RVers.

  • Modern Restroom Facilities: A central bathhouse provides accessible, heated showers and flush toilets, available during the summer season. Vault toilets are also available in various locations, including near the backpack sites, and remain open year-round.

  • Potable Water: Drinking water fountains with spigots for filling containers are located throughout the campground. Water is typically turned off at night during colder months to prevent freezing but is available from the park office when open.

  • Picnic Tables and Fire Rings: Each campsite, including the backpack sites, is equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring, perfect for outdoor meals and campfires.

  • Firewood Sales: Firewood can be purchased directly from the park office, ensuring convenient access to burnable material and helping to prevent the spread of invasive species often associated with outside firewood.

  • ADA Accessibility: Pattison State Park is committed to accessibility, with accessible campsites (e.g., site #36E and #15), picnic areas, water fountains, and a toilet-shower building designed for those with disabilities. • Home to Wisconsin's Tallest Waterfall: The undeniable star attraction is Big Manitou Falls, which plunges 165 feet, making it the highest waterfall in Wisconsin and the fourth highest east of the Rocky Mountains. Little Manitou Falls, a beautiful 31-foot twin waterfall, is also within the park, offering another stunning natural spectacle.

  • Extremely Private Hike-In Campsites: As highlighted by a camper review, the three backpack campsites are "great and EXTREMELY private," offering a secluded and peaceful experience along the Black River. This is ideal for those seeking true solitude in nature.
