Parrish Ranch Campground Introduce
For those of us in Colorado who appreciate a truly unique and rustic outdoor experience, Parrish Ranch Campground in Berthoud offers something distinct from your typical state park or private resort. This isn't just a place to pitch a tent; it's a sprawling, historic property that serves as both a campground and a charming event venue, rich with an unpolished, authentic Colorado spirit. If you're seeking a spot with character, a connection to the past, and a relaxed, natural setting, Parrish Ranch invites you to discover its unconventional appeal.
Parrish Ranch has a storied history, once a working ranch that, in 1958, transformed with the addition of a square dance barn by the Little Thompson River. As square dancing gained popularity, RVers started visiting, leading to the creation of hook-ups and even unique wooden teepees for those without RVs. This evolution has shaped Parrish Ranch into a versatile destination, capable of hosting large events like weddings and music festivals, while simultaneously offering individual campsites for a more laid-back escape. It’s a place where the sounds of nature blend with the echoes of past celebrations, offering a truly distinctive atmosphere.
The property spans several acres, providing a lush, green environment with mature trees that offer natural shade, a welcome respite during Colorado's warm summers. The Little Thompson River meanders through the ranch, inviting campers to take a refreshing dip or simply enjoy the soothing sounds of flowing water. This natural beauty forms the backdrop for various camping options, from traditional tent sites to RV spots with electric and water hookups, and even those charming, rustic teepees for a memorable glamping-style adventure.
What truly sets Parrish Ranch apart is its dual identity. It’s a functioning campground where you can enjoy the quiet of nature, spot wildlife, and listen to abundant bird calls, yet it also boasts the infrastructure to host lively gatherings. This blend offers a dynamic experience; sometimes it’s a tranquil retreat, and at others, it’s buzzing with the energy of a special event. For locals, this means flexibility – a peaceful family outing on one weekend, or a lively celebration venue on another. Its rustic charm is part of its allure, appealing to those who prefer a less manicured, more genuine connection to the land.
While Parrish Ranch embraces its rustic nature, it's important for visitors to understand that this means a different kind of camping experience. It’s for those who value space, natural surroundings, and a unique history more than perfectly manicured lawns or state-of-the-art facilities. It encourages a sense of community around shared spaces, and a readiness to engage with the environment as it is. For locals searching for a campground that stands out from the crowd and offers a memorable story, Parrish Ranch presents an intriguing option right here in Berthoud.

Parrish Ranch Campground Reviews
The worst campground I have camped in since 1996 and I have camped a lot. No host for about 24 hrs. No picnic table. Cow dung in multiple places. Grass not mowed. Communal fire ring had dog poop. Water from dripping spigot was brown. Kitchen and bathroom were dirty. Many maintenance issues. Host did not return my voicemail. Poor signage. Office was overgrown with weeds. Was quiet with many bird calls.
Jun 09, 2025 · David KistlerPeaceful, relaxing family ranch and old square dance barn venue, with teepees and grass, electric and water spots. By stream, surrounded by hills. Good location for events, weddings, reunions and music bands.
May 14, 2022 · Scot EggThis place is magical, I think of it so often. The owner, the grounds, the events, the historic buildings, and the sweet wildlife make it a dream come true.House-like teepees on the premises, built in the 70s?, are so adorable and right on the river. There's a river entry point gentle enough for children, or venture upstream to gentle pools. There's crawdads and small fry to interact with with!Giant dewy open fields with big, skirted by big, beautiful trees. Perfect for star and moon viewing. Large lodge with a hall upstairs that used to be a square dance hall in eras gone by. So much memorabilia, springy dance floor, showers and accommodations downstairs... it feels like a second home.Such a good place to reset, everyone needs to experience it here at least once.
Sep 06, 2023 · Rae McAlisterThe owner is so kind and they have cute little cabins to stay in with WiFi, and all the amenities you could need! Would definitely stay here again as well as recommend to anyone passing through the area!
Aug 14, 2024 · Elijah RinehartThis place is simply incredible!! I have a hard time relaxing and shutting out the world but in less than 24 hours I felt more peace & quiet than I have in a very long time! Your cell phones won’t work but there’s Wi-Fi at the main office if you need to have it. The owner Kim is extremely accommodating and has a great set up! There’s electric hook ups, nice restrooms with showers, and comfortable Tee Pees to sleep in! We will be back for sure!! So much so she’ll probably get tired of seeing us! 😆
