Location and Accessibility

Orman Guest Ranch & Stables is conveniently located at 750 Humboldt Rd, Crescent City, CA 95531, USA. This prime location places it strategically between two of Northern California’s most iconic natural attractions: the vast Pacific Ocean and the awe-inspiring Jedediah Smith Redwoods National Forest. For California residents, particularly those in the northern part of the state, reaching Orman Guest Ranch is a straightforward drive, offering convenient access to a multitude of outdoor adventures without excessive travel.

Crescent City itself is a vibrant coastal community, providing essential services, supplies, and local attractions like surfing opportunities. As one reviewer noted, it's just a short distance – "down the road" – from the beach, making it ideal for those who enjoy surfing or simply strolling along the coastline. The ranch's central location makes it an excellent basecamp for exploring not only the immediate Crescent City area but also the wider wonders of Northern California and even Southern Oregon.

While the physical address is 750 Humboldt Rd, the ranch's website advises a crucial tip for GPS users: "DO NOT USE THE STREET ADDRESS! JUST PUT IN 'ORMAN RANCH'." This helps prevent misdirection to a neighboring property. Whether you're traveling north or south on Highway 101, the ranch provides clear directions, ensuring a smooth arrival to your tranquil getaway. This accessibility, combined with its proximity to both coastal and forest environments, makes Orman Guest Ranch & Stables an exceptionally well-situated destination for California locals seeking diverse outdoor experiences.

Services Offered

Orman Guest Ranch & Stables prides itself on offering "good old fashioned camping" with a focus on affordability and a welcoming atmosphere. While it's a rustic "back to nature" experience with no hook-ups for RVs, it provides several key services that enhance camper comfort and convenience:

  • Clean Restrooms and Showers: The "super clean amenities" include "family size bathrooms with coin-operated showers" located in or near the office building. Showers are preset to approximately 100°F for water conservation.
  • Free Wi-Fi: While a rustic experience, "Free WIFI available in, or near the office building," allowing guests to stay connected if needed, though the owners encourage unplugging.
  • Horse Boarding Facilities: As a working ranch and stables, they offer "full care horse boarding facility with lots of room to roam." This is a "Bring your own horse" facility, providing options like barns (stall, paddock, tack room, bedding), wooden paddocks (shelter, paddock, tack room), and pasture options, making it ideal for equestrian campers.
  • Secure Environment: The entire campground is set in a "secure and comfortable environment with one way in and one way out," with hosts "always available on site at the entrance / exit."
  • Farm Products: As a working ranch, they also have a "beef and pork operation," offering "grass-fed" beef and pasture-raised pork, and have previously offered eggs and vegetables.
