Myrtle Beach KOA Resort Reviews
Unfortunately the thing that I’ll remember most about our trip was getting hit in the head by a dead tree branch that fell off a tall tree above me at the kids worm train loading area. It was so dead it fell off the tree above me without making a snap, crackle or pop. Then my family and myself getting covered with tiny black bugs that flew off the dead branch that hit me in the head. I’m grateful it was myself and not one of the many kids that had just been standing in the area loading into the train. I’m no arborist but I would recommend checking for large branches that are dead to the point of falling off a tree without making a snapping noise like the one that hit me. Especially when you have that many kids, parents and employees gathering as it’s the dedicated loading area for the worm train and entrance to the stage. I reached out to management regarding what had happened but never heard back.Other things-Booked a cabin with two queens and received a cabin with one queen and one twin. We received a $60 credit for the 4 day stay but could have booked another cabin or brought a mattress had we known ahead of time.Online it seems like activities like movies, karaoke etc are all week, from our experience it happened on the weekend after we had already left.Grill was charcoal instead of gas like listed, not a huge deal we just weren’t as familiar or prepared with charcoal.Besides that honestly everyone in our party had a great time and would visit again after buying a life insurance policy. The worm train and the employees working on it were great, the beach shuttle made the ocean so easy, and the two pools were a great feature. The deluxe cabins being stocked with pretty much everything you could need is a big plus.
Jun 24, 2025 · Whitney PowersThree stars only because the actual campground is nice and customer service was fantastic. The amenities are great and the bathrooms are clean. It is also in a great location and we loved being able to rent a golf cart easily. However, the cabin we rented was filthy. They may have wiped things down and swept but that seemed to be it. I have a busy infant who couldn’t even crawl on the ground because his knees and clothes were black the first time I set him down. The wall had a cuss word carved into it where the bunk bed was and my 8 year old can read and decided to repeat what it said. The bed was SO uncomfortable it was like sleeping on plywood. My back was killing me when we left. I know it’s a camping cabin but they could at least mop the floor between guests. Thankfully we only stayed 2 nights to extend a trip that we spent a majority of elsewhere.
Jun 28, 2025 · Brittany MitchellBooked a deluxe cabin with loft for three nights. Arrived to a cabin that was not suitable to sleep in or sit in. It was extremely dirty, dusty, moldy, falling apart. They clearly overbooked cabins and gave us one that was not rented out for a long time. Had to book another hotel that night as they could not give us a different cabin. The next day we finally got another cabin but not what we booked either. It was also dirty, dusty, moldy, unfit to rent. The nerve of this place to rent us 2 horrible cabins and charge us 270$ a night. We left our vacation early and disappointed! Ruined our 1 beach trip for the year! Can’t express how horrible this experience was. We will never stay here again!
Jun 22, 2025 · The McCaskills (Rob M)We’ve stayed at several KOA campgrounds before and typically have a great experience, but this particular location missed the mark in a few key areas.Cons:-The pool was dirty and smelled strongly of urine, which made it hard to enjoy.-The arcade room is outdated and disappointing—definitely could use an upgrade.-Unlike previous KOA stays, there was no clear communication about daily activities or events. We’re used to getting texts or at least a welcome pamphlet with info. My kids ended up missing several activities because we didn’t know they were happening. The only schedule I found was a small flyer posted at the Buoys poolside restaurant—easy to miss if you didn’t go up there.-Supervision is a must. On our last night, we saw a woman clearly under the influence wandering the grounds near the jump pillow, scaring the kids. This was unsettling and made us feel unsafe.-Staff at the poolside restaurant were rude, treating us like we were an inconvenience just for ordering.-General staff demeanor was unwelcoming, and several appeared disheveled, which didn’t inspire much trust.Pros:-The shaded campsites were a big plus—lots of trees and natural cover.-Loved the courtesy trash pickup every morning right at the campsite. That was a convenient touch.-Only two blocks from the beach, which made it easy to walk there anytime.Overall, this campground has potential, but a few improvements in cleanliness, communication, and staff professionalism would go a long way in making it feel safer and more welcoming
Jun 24, 2025 · Brittney WhalenI had an amazing experience with the staff at KOA Myrtle Beach. I have Starlink on my rig and the original lot they gave me was too wooded for the signal. I made one call and was immediately offered a less wooded site. Super easy and accommodating. ON TOP OF THAT, My AC went out about 8:30pm and was offered a cabin with AC within minutes. I cant say enough good things! Ill be staying there again.
