Mt Crested Butte Campground Reviews
The views! Right off the main road, not much for screening between sites (which are fairly close), but waking up in a bed of flowers is quite an experience! Obviously, this depends on the season, but a great place to stay right out of Crested Butte. There is a porta potty (clean smelling and clean when we were there) right in the parking lot which is close to the camping sites. Thus, easy to car camp. Other than the traffic nose, it is a fairly quiet site.Would stay here if in the area again!
Aug 08, 2024 · Peter BoydI commend and thank the City of Crested Butte for providing 26 primitive walk-in tent spots free. It is adjacent to the best spectacular wildflower hills in CO. Wildflowers are abundant at the campsite, making it very pretty in spring. Two porta-paddies are in the parking lot, no water, bus stop. No sleeping in vehicle. Please respect rules and keep area pristine to keep this free and available. Try not to trample wildflowers. I've not seen any popular ski mountain town be this amiable. Hiking, horse, & biking trails are close. Limited parking spaces. Open Memorial Day to Labor Day aprx May 27-Sep 2.
Jul 04, 2024 · Frank KeeBeautiful campsite in the middle of a wild flower field!! 360 views of the mountains, however, it is pretty close to town so doesn't feel like you are entirely in the wilderness. Designated spots are flat and great to put up a tent. Porta pottys were also kept decently clean. Spots are pretty close together but other than that I cannot recommend this enough if you can find a spot!!
Jul 17, 2023 · Natalie HansonWhat a beautiful place to camp and take photos of the wildflowers. There is porto potty’s here.
Jun 23, 2024 · Monica Breckenridge Pink RealtyFREE CAMPING provided and managed by the Town of Mt Crested Butte. Great location — just minutes up the road from the ski resort on Gothic. Probably a 10min drive from the town of CB. Incredible views but no cover at all in the form of trees or shrubbery.Park your car in the lot and walk to one of the 26 designated campsites. Tent camping only! NO DOGS! No campfires, unfortunately. Community fire ring only. An outhouse bathroom is located in the parking lot. Also, no car/van camping. Sleep in your tent is enforced. Watch the noise; your neighbor in the next tent over is pretty close to ya!! Summer season only.
