Moon Valley Campground specializes in glamping, offering a range of services designed to provide a comfortable and elevated outdoor experience. While it's distinct from traditional campgrounds that accommodate RVs with full hookups, its focus is on providing well-appointed, ready-to-use campsites.
- Pre-Pitched Glamping Tents and Domes: The core service involves comfortable, weather-tight canvas tents (like "Hilltop Hideaway" and "Heavenly Landing") and a geodesic dome ("The Lookout"). These are already set up upon arrival, complete with comfortable beds and bedding, eliminating the need for campers to pitch their own tents.
- Comfortable Bedding: Sites are equipped with queen or full-size beds and bedding, ensuring a good night's sleep.
- Provided Cooking Amenities: Each site includes a picnic bench/cupboard with a countertop combination, as well as a fire pit with a grill grate, making camp cooking a breeze. Garbage containers are also provided at each site.
- Solar Power: Glamping tents and domes are equipped with limited solar power, providing electricity for basic needs like lighting and fans.
- Propane Heaters: For cooler nights, propane heaters (requiring mini propane tanks) are available in the tents and domes for added comfort.
- Shared Restroom Facilities: While individual sites do not have private restrooms, a shared porta-potty restroom is available, which is noted by reviews as "clean and well-stocked." This facility is a short walk from each site.
- Communal Well Water: Access to communal well water is provided for rinsing off and filling buckets, though guests are advised to bring their own bottled water for drinking.
- Pet-Friendly Sites: Many of the glamping sites, including "Hilltop Hideaway," "Heavenly Landing," and "Lenape," are pet-friendly, allowing guests to bring their dogs (with leash rules). However, "The Lookout" (the geodesic dome) does not allow pets.
- Host Availability: Guests appreciate that Domenic, the host, is "always available to answer questions," ensuring a smooth and pleasant stay.
- Cell Service: The sites are noted to have "perfect cell service," allowing guests to maintain communication if desired.
- Firewood and Water Access: Certain sites are conveniently located near firewood and water access points.
These services create a blend of rustic charm and modern convenience, making glamping at Moon Valley Campground a truly comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Moon Valley Campground stands out for several remarkable features and highlights that contribute to its "terrific" and "awesome" reputation among New Jersey visitors:

Campsites are designed to be "comfortable... without sacrificing privacy," nestled in "private woodland nooks" or on "private hilltop" for a secluded feel.
- Unique Glamping Accommodations: The resort's primary highlight is its unique glamping options, including spacious canvas tents and a geodesic dome. These "pristine" and "weather-tight" structures come with comfortable beds, bedding, and thoughtful touches, offering a luxurious camping experience. "The Lookout" geodesic dome is particularly noted for its breathtaking valley and sunset views.

While specific, short-term "promotions" are not widely advertised for Moon Valley Campground in the public domain, the very nature of its glamping experience can be seen as a special offer in itself, providing a unique value proposition for New Jersey locals. Instead of traditional discounts, the resort focuses on delivering a premium, hassle-free outdoor stay. However, certain aspects can be considered beneficial:
- Luxury and Convenience as a "Deal": For many, the comfort of a pre-pitched, fully furnished tent or dome with amenities like comfortable beds, solar power, and dedicated cooking setups is a significant "offer" that saves time, effort, and the need for extensive camping gear. This convenience often outweighs the cost of a traditional bare-bones campsite.
- Value of Included Amenities: The inclusion of items like bedding, picnic tables, fire pits with grates, and even propane heaters in the glamping sites means guests don't need to pack as much, adding to the value of the stay.
- Potential for Group Bookings: While not explicitly stated as a "promotion," the ability to book multiple comfortable sites like "Hilltop Hideaway" and "Heavenly Landing" together for couples or groups traveling in tandem (as noted in reviews) offers a tailored experience for larger parties without sacrificing individual privacy.
- Access to Nearby Attractions: The proximity to the Appalachian Trail, Heaven Hill Farm, and local farm cooperatives adds significant value to the stay, providing readily available activities and experiences without extra travel.

Moon Valley Campground Reviews
What a terrific stay. Hilltop Hideaway and Heavenly Landing are comfortable campsites close enough for couples traveling together to enjoy without sacrificing privacy. The views are stunning, and the canvas tents are comfortable and weather-tight. Camp cooking is a breeze thanks to the picnic bench/cupboard with countertop combination. There’s a lot to do in the area. Domenic is a great host, always available to answer questions. We look forward to returning in the future.
Jun 17, 2025 · David HauslerWhat an awesome experience. We stayed here on Memorial Day Weekend and it was a perfect reprieve from the hectic weekend. The tent was pristine, the bed and pillows were comfortable. We grilled using the provided fire pit that has a grate over it. We also had a great time doing the recommended activities at Treescape (ropes course and zip lining). There’s walking access to impressive trails and the property in general was well taken care of. The site has perfect cell service allowing you to maintain communications with your host. Looking forward to returning here at our soonest opportunity.
May 26, 2025 · Omar AkelWhat a magical place! We had an amazing time at Hilltop Hideaway as a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 young kids). The bed was very comfortable and the views stunning. Dominic was very helpful and super responsive. The location is perfect with great hiking accessible on the property. We look forward to coming again and trying the other campsites.
Apr 18, 2025 · Amanda NoodellWe absolutely loved our stay at Moon Valley Campground! The host was responsive and everything was as described. Our primitive tent site was lovely and access to the Appalachian Trail was so close! We loved being able to walk out our tent, up the trail and onto the AT. We would definitely stay again!
Jun 02, 2025 · Sarah LoftisA Hidden Gem in the Hills!Moon Valley Campground in Vernon, NJ completely exceeded my expectations. The property is absolutely stunning—perched on a hillside with panoramic views of the valley and working farm below. Just a short walk from our site, we were indulging in fresh apple cider donuts and ice cream from the farmstand, or setting off to hike the famous Angels Landing section of the Appalachian Trail. We stayed at “The Lookout,” which came fully furnished with a super comfy bed, a table, heater, lights, and all the basics you’d need for a cozy, restful night—and best of all, that million-dollar view! The campsites are thoughtfully spaced so you feel completely secluded, and each one includes a picnic table, fire pit, and secure bear-safe trash containers.Being tucked between Vernon and Warwick meant we were just a quick drive from some incredible farm-to-table dining, too. Whether you’re a seasoned glamper or someone who wants the outdoor experience without roughing it too much, I highly recommend this campground. We can’t wait to come back!
