Monarch Spur RV Park and Campground Reviews
We were delighted with our visit, thanks to the staff's exceptional hospitality and helpfulness. Our parents will cherish the opportunity to purchase a school shirt as a keepsake of our children's adventure. The facilities were outstanding, featuring picnic areas, a fire pit, and a picnic table, all situated in a beautifully maintained grassy area. The private setting allowed us to unwind without feeling crowded. We also appreciated the easily accessible restrooms. In my view, this is an excellent spot for families, offering a range of activities to keep children engaged. The kids had an absolute blast and were reluctant to leave. The owners clearly went the extra mile to create an exceptional experience, and we hope our enthusiasm was mutual. As a parent, I'm always on the lookout for ways to keep my kids occupied and eager to use their imagination. My favorite part was fly fishing, which was conveniently accessible on the property. We didn’t need to go to town for anything; they had everything we needed at their store.
Jun 07, 2025 · Antonia JohnsonDon't have an RV, but don't want to tent camp? No problem! Monarch Spur has three comfortable RVs to rent at a very reasonable price. Fully stocked, so you just need to show up with your food and drink! We were at the campground with 4 other families with kids of all ages and everyone found something fun to do during the day, whether it be playing with the basketballs, axe throwing, splashing in the river, swinging on the swing set or going into the town of Salida for a quick bite (about 20 min drive). We will definitely come back again!
Jun 23, 2025 · Sutherlan WilsonWe have been full-time RVers for the past 7 years so have visited a LOT of campgrounds. Monarch Spur is now one of our favorites. Not only is it in a great location near Salida and the Peaks, but it is a beautiful, large campground. The thing that puts it over the top though are the family that owns it. They are terrific from April and Scott to their kids and Harvey! They make you feel so welcome and care deeply about your stay. I wish all campground owners were so thoughtful and friendly! It was a great month-long stay with them. We had a group in for one week and they took great care of us, letting us essentially take over the facilities. Monarch Spur is definitely worth a stop over.
May 29, 2025 · Debbie BentonLocation is the top amenity here. We had spaces 'on top' and they were very long but narrow. A picnic table and nice fire pit are at each site. There is a nice sized off leash area. Lots of tent sites too. The owners are super nice people.
May 30, 2025 · Christine muellerWe just returned from a truly wonderful camping trip at Monarch Spur RV Park and Campground in June 2025, and we can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the incredible hosts, Scott and April. Their kindness, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality set the tone for our entire stay. They clearly take great pride in the park, and it shows in every detail. The campground is immaculate. Every area—from the RV sites to the tent pads, the restrooms, and the common spaces—is exceptionally clean and well-maintained. It’s rare to find a place where everything feels so thoughtfully cared for. The bathrooms and showers were spotless, well-stocked, and consistently cleaned—some of the best we've experienced at any campground. The setting itself is absolutely stunning. Nestled in the mountains, surrounded by tall pines and the sound of nearby creeks, Monarch Spur is the perfect blend of peaceful wilderness and modern convenience. We found ourselves simply sitting and soaking in the natural beauty more than once. Wildlife sightings, clear starry skies, and the fresh alpine air made it feel magical. The amenities are top-notch. The hookups were reliable and easy to access, the Wi-Fi worked well for basic needs, and there was even a small store on site with the essentials. We especially appreciated the thoughtful extras like the picnic tables, fire pits, and well-marked trails for walking.Scott and April go above and beyond—not just to manage the park but to create a warm and welcoming community. Whether helping guests get settled or sharing tips on nearby hikes and attractions, they made every interaction meaningful and helpful. There’s a relaxed, respectful vibe among the other guests, which speaks volumes about the tone set by the hosts. Everyone we met seemed to be enjoying their stay just as much as we were. It’s clear that this isn’t just a business for Scott and April—it’s a labor of love. And that love radiates throughout the entire campground. This was our first time staying at Monarch Spur, but it definitely won’t be our last. We’re already looking at dates for our return visit. If you’re looking for a clean, scenic, and truly welcoming place to camp, this is it.Five stars all the way. Thank you, Scott and April, for a beautiful and memorable stay! The DeVincenzo's
