The campground maintains a high standard of cleanliness, and the presence of attentive hosts who "came by and checked on us the first night" adds a welcoming and supportive touch to your stay. While the daytime might bring some "road noise" from nearby Highway 50 and Monarch Pass, particularly from "air braking from trucks," this minor "con" is easily outweighed by the peaceful nights. Monarch Park Campground Reviews
Monarch Park Campground was really nice. The campsites were spacious and spaced far enough apart from one another that we only caught glimpses of our neighbors. The place was clean and the hosts came by and checked on us the first night. It was in a good location, far from the city but only 30 minutes from Salida, a cute town with delicious ice cream. Hiking options nearby. But my favorite part was the stars. So many stars you can see, 100% worth the drive.
Aug 21, 2018 · Lauren CarrPros & Cons...I'll start with the cons: 1. Road Noise. As stated in previous reviews, the noise from the highway is pretty bad.The campground sits just below Monarch Pass (US 50). Air braking from trucks is probably the worst of it. It starts in the mornig and continues throughout the day. BUT...it is very quiet at night and you can sit outside and enjoy your campfire in peace & quiet. 2. It's, well, messy. Lots of down trees and debris from them scattered about. The Pros: 1. Camp host is great. Steve knows the area well and can help you find whatever it is you're looking for. He has free maps & info, sells firewood, and is friendly & helpful. He keeps the bathrooms clean as well. 2. Location, Location, Location! It's proximity to mountain biking, hiking, & apline lake fishing is fantastic! It's not far from Salida or Gunnison, if you want to go into town. There are some ponds on the property for fishing as well. So, overall, not too bad. It's not crowded, which was nice but not good for business, I assume. In my opinion, spots 21, 23, & 25 are the best. WARNING....NO Verizon cell service here. ATT works great though.

Sep 01, 2016 · Drew WaltonSaaaawweeeet views. Nice campground. You can hear the highway if, but it's not a big deal at all. Little lake for fly fishing.
