With its prime location between the lively towns of Dillon, Frisco, and Breckenridge, Lowry Campground serves as an excellent basecamp for exploring the vast recreational opportunities that Summit County is renowned for.
From the moment you arrive, you'll be greeted by the breathtaking scenery of the Rocky Mountains, with stunning views that stretch across valleys and towards snow-capped peaks, even in the heart of summer. While the landscape has seen changes due to pine beetle infestation and subsequent hazard tree removal, leading to less shade in some areas, the open spaces allow for expansive vistas and ample sunlight. Lowry Campground is celebrated for its well-maintained facilities and the attentive care provided by its camp hosts, ensuring a pleasant and comfortable stay for all visitors.
Whether your idea of a perfect getaway involves serene fishing on Lake Dillon, exhilarating rides on the Summit County trail system, or simply unwinding in the crisp mountain air with a spectacular backdrop, Lowry Campground provides the ideal setting. Access to the campground is straightforward, typically involving well-maintained roads from I-70. From I-70, campers can take exit 205 and travel east on Highway 6 towards Keystone for approximately 3 miles, which leads to the campground area. This proximity means that popular water-based activities like fishing, boating, and sailing are easily within reach, adding another layer of recreational opportunity to your stay.
Furthermore, the campground's central location places it within a short drive of major ski resorts like Arapahoe Basin, Keystone, Breckenridge, and Copper Mountain, which offer year-round activities. Lowry Campground Reviews
The only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 is that it would be perfect with water, sewer hook ups but everything else is perfect. The host, the scenery, clean restrooms & what a view
Jul 01, 2025 · Kim HestorffNo water for a while until they fix the burst pipe. Otherwise a few potable water are soread atd campground. 9 mins drive to dump station & fresh water fill up at the bottom of hill. Small & quiet with great views. There are plenty of spaces between each site except sites 17, 18 & 19
May 27, 2025 · Angie LeeHidden gem! 360 degree Rocky Mountain views in White River Nat’l Forest with overlook on the Dillon Reservoir. This is a nature focused, no-frills campground, but really has all you need, especially if you love the outdoors & glorious views! Spacious, gravel sites are full-sun with electric hook-up. *Limited water spigot access/use. Equipped with picnic table, fire pit, grill, & bear locker. Public restrooms. Super nice host! Dump station & fill is only a few miles away in town. Still scratching my head as to why this campground wasn’t full in CO in June.
Jun 20, 2024 · Natalie G5⭐️ for friendliness and efficiency of the camp hosts! No bath house, but the vault toilet house was perfectly clean/and no bad smells! In the one day we visited the bathrooms were cleaned 3 times!!The views were beautiful and lots of different wildflowers throughout. One suggestion: hand sanitizers at the bathrooms!Sites 8 & 9 were very close but since we were together that was okay.
Jul 02, 2024 · Diane PowellAVOID. Uneven camping spots, difficult sites to get in and out of, and despite the fact that you are literally on top of a reservoir, they make you do elsewhere to get water for your RV! It's nearly 20min r/t burning gas and towing a full trailer to get the ONE thing you need in order to successfully camp- water. I've never been to a campground in Colorado that pretty much exclusively caters to RVs that doesn't allow you to fill your tank. Where is your campsite fee going to?? Not to replacing the ancient picnic tables! No shady spots either.
