As one reviewer aptly put it, it's a "Pretty and forested campground" where you can find "a nice camp spot on the back loop with a small stream running through it." This speaks to the natural beauty and sense of immersion that draws Montanans to the outdoors. The emphasis on "all of the signage about bear awareness and ways to store food properly to avoid habituating them" highlights the responsible stewardship of our shared wild spaces, ensuring a safe experience for both humans and wildlife. Furthermore, the "first come first served basis" provides a refreshing alternative to reservation-heavy campgrounds, making it an accessible option for spontaneous weekend getaways. Its strategic location also places it near the historic Lewis and Clark / Nez Perce National Historic Trail, offering fascinating interpretive sites and opportunities for exploring the region's rich past. For those coming from Missoula, it's a short and scenic drive, making it an ideal choice for a quick escape into nature. Lolo Creek Campground and Picnic Area Reviews
Pretty and forested campground. Found a nice camp spot on the back loop with a small stream running through it. Appreciated all of the signage about bear awareness and ways to store food properly to avoid habituating them.
May 27, 2025 · Ashley LipscombNice little campground on a first come first served basis. Was there in June 2022 and found a fairly private site with a picnic table and a fire ring. Potable water and vault toilet very close by.
Oct 05, 2022 · Danny McDeevaWent camping for two days and it was awesome! We were next to the creek with the peaceful sound of gently flowing water. There is water available for you to use next to the campsite as well. There is also a port a potty for use-although I’m not sure how many. There’s a dumpster for your trash-PLEASE USE IT. My husband and I were thankful that we came behind a clean group of people but our neighboring campers weren’t as lucky. We will definitely be back!
Jul 29, 2020 · Amanda DuffyIt's primitive but beautiful. Our site was in the trees enough to avoid the sun pretty much all day. No showers...I'd have given it a 5 if they did.No cell or internet service at all.
Aug 05, 2022 · Stern FlurryLolo Creek has been a great experience for most of my life. I have been going camping at this spot since 1980, I was about 4 years old. Best place to make memories with generations of family.
