For Oregonians seeking the perfect blend of natural tranquility and convenient amenities, the Lemolo Lake / Crater Lake North KOA Holiday is truly an "incredible little gem." Nestled at 4300 feet in the breathtaking Oregon Cascade Range, this campground offers a serene escape on the shores of stream-fed Lemolo Lake, while also serving as an ideal launching pad for exploring some of our state's most iconic natural wonders, including the majestic Crater Lake National Park and a remarkable collection of waterfalls.
As locals, we understand the appeal of a place that feels secluded and immersed in nature, yet still provides the comforts that make a camping trip truly relaxing. Lemolo Lake / Crater Lake North KOA Holiday perfectly embodies this balance. It's a place where the "views from the lake are unmatched," and the surrounding Umpqua National Forest offers a playground of adventure, from fishing and boating on the quiet waters to hiking along world-renowned trails. The dedication of the staff, often described as "so friendly" and "very kind and helpful," further enhances the experience, making every visit feel welcoming and well-supported.
This KOA is more than just a place to park your RV or pitch a tent; it’s a full-fledged destination designed to create lasting memories. Whether you're looking to "UNPLUG" from the noise of daily life and embrace the "Beautiful, majestic, relaxing, rejuvenating, soul filling" nature, or you're eager for "Adventure Activities" like exploring "Seven (yes 7) Waterfalls hikes," this campground has you covered. Its unique position allows for both peaceful relaxation by the lake and easy access to thrilling explorations, catering to a wide range of outdoor preferences common among Oregon residents.
The consistent positive feedback, from the delicious "Kamp Grounds Coffee" to the quick response of the team during an electrical outage, speaks volumes about the quality of the experience. For those of us in Oregon who dream of a yearly escape to a place that combines the wild beauty of the Cascades with top-notch hospitality, Lemolo Lake / Crater Lake North KOA Holiday is a destination to mark on your calendar.
Lemolo Lake / Crater Lake North KOA Holiday is strategically situated at 2610 Birds Point Rd, Idleyld Park, OR 97447, USA. This places it at 4300 feet elevation within the heart of the Umpqua National Forest in the Oregon Cascade Range, providing a truly immersive mountain and lake setting.
For Oregon residents, the campground's accessibility is well-detailed. From Interstate 5 (I-5) in the Roseburg area (Exit 124), you would follow signs to Highway 138 East for approximately 73 miles. Just before mile marker 73, turn left (North) onto Birds Point Road and continue for 5 miles until you reach the property entrance. For those coming from the Medford area (from the Southwest), take Exit 30 onto Highway 62 (Crater Lake Highway), travel northeast, merge onto Highway 230, and then turn left onto Highway 138 for about 9 miles, turning right onto Birds Point Road for the final 5 miles. From Bend or Klamath Falls, the route involves Highway 97 to Highway 138 West, then Birds Point Road.
What makes its location particularly appealing for locals is its balanced remoteness and proximity to key attractions. While it offers a secluded "quiet life travel" experience with "no highway traffic noise," it's remarkably only "18 miles to the North Entrance to Crater Lake National Park." This makes it an ideal basecamp for visiting Oregon's only National Park. Furthermore, "several waterfalls within a 10-20 minute drive from the campsite," including popular ones like Watson and Lemolo Falls, enhance its appeal for scenic drives and hikes.
While the campground is deep in the forest, the access roads are generally well-maintained, allowing for easy navigation for RVs up to 70 feet in length. However, it is essential to fuel up and stock groceries before arriving, as nearby services are limited due to its natural, secluded setting. This is "not concrete camping," but rather a genuine forest experience that rewards the journey.

Lemolo Lake / Crater Lake North KOA Holiday Reviews
Incredible little gem of a KOA! The staff are so friendly. The “Kamp Grounds Coffee” was so delicious. And the views from the lake are unmatched. There are several waterfalls within a 10-20 minute drive from the campsite. Watson and Lemolo were among our favorites. The third night we were there we experienced a thunderstorm which caused our electrical pedestal to go out. Their team had someone to us within minutes. I can’t recommend this place enough! We can’t wait to make this KOA a yearly stop.
Jul 03, 2025 · Marissa DudleyWe stayed at a campsite, not in one of the cabins. The place is secluded but well worth the extra time and effort to get there. Jim and Anita were very kind and helpful….even Jim’s brother (John) who was there visiting, helped with a tire issue. The campground is beautiful and the lake magnificent. Highly recommend!
Jul 06, 2025 · Roberta KresselWhat a beautiful out of the way camp ground! The owners and staff were so friendly and gave great customer service. They even brought our ice to our site and put it in the cooler for us. Lots of options for rentals to enjoy the lake. Facilities were clean and the sites were large set up nicely. We will definitely come back for a longer stay.
Jun 03, 2025 · lisa widmerGreat stay. The staff was very friendly & knowledgeable of the surrounding area. Each tent site had their own water spout & electric outlet. The campground was clean and well maintained. Clean bathrooms. Hot showers. Boat rentals available.
Jun 24, 2025 · Bethany AshcraftNice sight and amenities. Good lake access as well. Reason for the low rating is the staff kind of sucks, perform road grating and kick dust up when people are trying to hangout. They enforce certain rules like their life depends on it. The second quite hours start they’ll be running up to tell you to be quite even if you all you did was coughed, but people can have bright strobing Christmas lights on all night shining through windows and into tents. Little weird to enforce somethings so strictly but not others. It be nice to hang around by a campfire at night since you can’t in the day when they’re making dust storms in the camp sites. I’ve always thought KOA campgrounds were supposed to be family campgrounds but clearly that has changed, don’t plan on coming here to hang out since you’re expected to basically be inside lights out at 10. Also after reading the responses to low rated reviews I can tell someone should probably not be managing this place. The responses are unprofessional and you can tell someone has had little experience in managing customer relations.
