Camped here on our way to and from North Carolina in late August. The owner was very helpful and met us there after hours to collect $ and show us our site, which was upgraded to waterfront for free because they weren't full. There are a lot of seasonal campers here. Because school had already started, we had the place almost to ourselves. It was a beautiful site overlooking the river. There are lots of trees and shade, not like many campgrounds where you're just tightly lined up in a sunny field. The price was quite reasonable. There was a fishing pier, and also a tiny beach area that looked like it doesn't see much use. The bath house was pretty bad- not clean and rather run-down. I was a bit nervous about using it and my husband got a foot infection from the shower, even though he wore flip flops. It would be better for campers with bathrooms. The water was hot and lathered well though. Water hookup for the camper was good with no odor or weird taste (we do use an in-line filter). When we were there, mosquitos were wicked once the sun started to set, so be prepared with spray. We didn't really spend any time sight seeing because this was just a stop-over for us, but Colonial Beach is nearby and is quite nice. Also there are several nearby historic sites that we have visited in the past. If it wasn't for the bath house, I would have given this place five stars. - Heather Papinchak
