Leavenworth / Pine Village KOA Holiday Reviews
KOA — the worst camping experience of my life. Our “stay” in a tent at KOA was nothing short of a disaster. This is not camping — it’s a commercial machine where guest comfort seems like an afterthought. The tent sites are tiny, packed so close that neighbors are literally sleeping next to your head. No privacy, no peace, no trace of nature. It feels like these sites were simply “added for profit,” with no real concern for guest experience. You book blindly — no site number, no choice. We only found out where we’d be staying upon arrival, and to our shock, our tent site was right on the edge of a basketball court. My teenage daughter was so upset, she cried. Balls flying into our feet, people running around us constantly, and loud noise from 7 a.m. — even though the rules say the courts open at 8.The site clearly wasn’t intended for camping — not even a fire ring. And even if fires hadn’t been banned during our stay, we couldn’t have made one anyway — there was nowhere to do it. When we hoped for some rest, we were instead woken by a lawnmower, going back and forth just a few feet from our tent.We only stayed because this trip was planned long in advance with another family, and there were no other available sites in the area. Leaving meant going straight home — and we tried to make the best of it.Almost $90 per night — for noise, crowding, and the feeling that you’re enduring, not relaxing. This is my personal experience and subjective opinion based on a specific stay at this campground.
Jun 25, 2025 · Dina DiVery nice campground! Gave 4 stars because of the dog area being like a 15/15 sq ft patch of dirt. That was very disappointing. And the closes dog park is a half hour away. It is not made for big dogs at all.I feel like we were at a summer camp in the 80’s. Lots of fun activities to do!! However you have to pay extra to do a lot of them. Since it goes to a good cause like maintaining forests, I was happy to pay the small extra fee.Over all I will definitely be happy to stay here again. Friendly staff, clean bathrooms, and well kept grounds.
Jun 14, 2025 · Petra CrawfordDisappointed for the price. I made reservations on the website and was confident I selected a shaded location because we had a family member with mobility challenges. We did not have a reserved site when we arrived. When I pointed out the website was misleading, I was told to take it up with corporate. I would much have preferred the employee promise to suggest improvements to corporate, so here I am with my review. We were placed next to the GaGa Ball pit and evenings were very noisy. We also woke up to sprinklers each morning and our site was swamped. I will not return. The layout of the park and traffic patterns did not make a great deal of sense. There were several dead ends so you had to walk through campsites and apologize to other campers or backtrack. Employees were kind and reliable. Processes and procedures need improvement. Pictures of day one and two of morning sprinkler session attached.
Jun 26, 2025 · Leah WatkinsFun campground stay with kids and grandkids! Lots to do for all ages. Pool, playground, tie-dye, rock, painting, as well as coffee/ice cream bar. Live music nightly. Movie nights outside was a so-so event. Started at 9 PM, still light out so unable to see the movie for a good 45 minutes! Unfortunately, we were assigned site #27 for a 25 foot trailer that was so small we had to back up into a boulder area and then not be able to use the outside kitchen/grill nor extend the awning. When I asked about some compensation they said they don’t offer anything, that the site was max rated for 25 foot! There were other sites open so that was a damper to the $90 a night stay. Overall, the staff was friendly, bathrooms, clean, and everyone had a good time!
Jun 30, 2025 · Gena StahleckerFor a KOA, this place really delivers! There's a ton to do, and it's especially perfect for families with kids. That said, I wouldn’t recommend staying during peak season—it gets way too expensive. Shoulder season is where it’s at! The rates are much more reasonable, with cabin prices just under what the local (also overpriced) hotels charge.Like others have pointed out, be prepared for some nickel-and-diming. From activity fees to resort-priced items in the camp store, it adds up fast. The kids' craft activities were adorable, but once I saw the price tags, they felt a bit steep. The highlight for us was the pool—it’s beautiful! And the live band with movie night? Such a fun touch. All in all, we had a great time and definitely plan to come back—just not in the summer rush!
