Welcome to Lava Campground, a premier destination for campers and RV enthusiasts seeking an unforgettable escape in the heart of Idaho. Nestled along the beautiful Fish Creek and just minutes from the famous Lava Hot Springs, this campground combines the rugged beauty of the Idaho wilderness with the comfort and convenience of modern amenities. Whether you're a seasoned RVer with a large rig, a family with kids looking for a fun-filled weekend, or a couple seeking a serene spot to pitch a tent by the river, Lava Campground has something for everyone. Our mission is to provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment where you can relax, explore, and create lasting memories with your loved ones, including your furry friends. We pride ourselves on the community we've built, where every guest feels at home and every stay is a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.
Lava Campground is conveniently located at 11759 E Fish Crk Rd, Lava Hot Springs, ID 83246, USA. Its prime location places you right on the doorstep of the area's most popular attractions, while still offering a peaceful retreat. The roads leading into and within the campground are wide and well-maintained, making it easy for even the largest of RVs—including those 35 ft or more—to navigate comfortably. The campground's position along the river is a key highlight, providing beautiful views and easy access to the water. While the location is incredibly scenic, it is worth noting that the main road runs along the river, so some road noise, especially from larger trucks, can be heard. However, this is a common characteristic of campgrounds in this popular area and is a small trade-off for the stunning riverside spots and easy access to town.
At Lava Campground, we offer a comprehensive suite of services and amenities designed to make your stay as comfortable and convenient as possible. Our focus is on providing all the essentials, plus some special touches, to ensure a top-tier camping experience.
RV Camping with Hookups: We have a large selection of sites for RVs and campers. Many sites offer full electric hookups (RV electric hookup) and water hookups (RV water hookup), and some also have septic connections. The wide roads make it easy to maneuver your rig into your spot, and the sites are well-maintained and spacious.
Onsite Services: Our friendly and professional staff is available onsite to assist with any needs. We pride ourselves on being accommodating, as seen with our flexibility for early arrivals, and we are always working to improve the grounds for our guests.
Exceptionally Clean Facilities: We are known for having some of the cleanest restroom facilities you will find at any campground. Our team cleans them every morning, ensuring they are spotless and ready for the day ahead. Even our outhouses are exceptionally clean, a testament to our commitment to hygiene.
Accessibility Features: Lava Campground is designed to be accessible to all visitors. We offer wheelchair accessible entrance, parking, and restrooms, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the beauty and activities our site has to offer.
Pet-Friendly Environment: Your four-legged family members are more than welcome here. Dogs are allowed, and there's plenty of space for them to enjoy the outdoors with you (on a leash, of course).
Flexible Payment Options: For your convenience, we accept both credit cards and debit cards, making the booking and payment process quick and hassle-free.
Lava Campground is more than just a place to park or pitch a tent. We offer a variety of features and highlights that enhance your stay and make it a truly memorable experience.
Perfect for Picnics and Outdoor Fun: Our grounds are an ideal spot for picnics. With plenty of open space and beautiful views, you can enjoy a meal outdoors with your family and friends. The riverside locations are particularly scenic and popular for this purpose.
Kid-Friendly Activities: Families will love our playground with its unique, retro equipment that provides endless fun for children of all ages. Additionally, the campground is a safe and exciting place for kids to explore and play.
Kid-Friendly Hikes: The area surrounding the campground offers numerous opportunities for hiking. We have trails that are suitable for families and kids, making it easy for everyone to enjoy the natural beauty of Idaho. It's a great way to stay active and discover the local landscape.
Riverfront Sites: Many of our sites are located right on the river, offering a breathtaking view and the soothing sound of flowing water. It's a prime location for those who love fishing, wading, or simply relaxing by the water's edge. The kids especially love playing in the river.
Variety of Accommodations: In addition to a huge selection of RV and tent sites, we also offer unique accommodations like a king-size camper with air-conditioning and heating. This option provides a perfect blend of comfort and a rustic setting for those who prefer not to bring their own gear.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We stayed in the Iris last weekend and had a blast! We were a little surprised by the entrance of our campsite, but it was so perfect for a couple camping on their own. The camper was super cute, the king size bed was so soft and comfy. I loved having air-conditioning during the day and heating at night as we needed. The campground is honestly one of the best we've seen. We usually tent camp, and there were so many spots for tents near the river that we plan to book in the future because the sites were large and well maintained. From what I could tell, there was a huge selection of RV and camper sites with electricity for each site, plus water/septic for some of them. When we have a camper we'd love to come to one of those sites. The bathroom facilities were the cleanest I ever seen, and they clean them every morning before everyone wakes up. Even the outhouses were super clean! The roads were super wide, we saw 35 ft+ campers driving through comfortably. There was one spot where they were doing a lot of work, maybe to build a new suite or host station? I'm not sure, but it was easy to get around and made me excited to see what's new next time we come. All in all, I would one hundred percent recommend this to everyone. The sites were all great, I was super comfortable walking around at night, they had amazing amenities, and I loved the weekend community they've built. I'm excited to come again and see how it grows.
June 20 · Tiffany DurrantWe had such a wonderful stay at Lava Campground this last week. We originally were only staying one night but needed to come a day early and they were accommodating. We were tent camping and had this absolutely beautiful spot right on the river. The kids loved playing it. The playground was a huge hit and they loved all the retro playground equipment!!! I was super impressed with how clean the restrooms were . My only complaint about the campground has nothing to do with the owners themselves or the facility, but the location is frustrating but no matter where you stay in this town you will encounter the same issue because of how the road runs along the river and all the campgrounds run along the river as well. The noise was rough.. semis would go by in the middle of the night and literally jolt me out of my sleep.. you could hear all traffic but the semis were especially loud.. like I said not a campground issue just an issue with this town in general. Definitely recommend a stay at Lava Campground if you are in Lava Hot Springs.
June 21 · Kyli RodgersWe switched campgrounds when we got here. The host let us choose a convenient pull-through since we were new to RVs. One of the workers helped us make sure everything was working. The showers and restrooms are so clean and fresh. We were eyeing the retro campers. One of the workers told us we could go look at them. They are so cute and look so comfortable and inviting. The large one looked ideal for a little family. We also walked down the trail into Lava Hot Springs. Easy walk about a mile. It is so beautiful and clean here. We saw a moose just outside the camp. So far we are loving our stay. I highly recommend checking out this campground. Quiet, clean, big, fun!!
June 02 · Rachel HollingsworthThis campground was great. Loved the location away from town, but also loved the hike into town. The fire dancers on Saturday night were a fun surprise! My one wish would be that the trees were bigger - I need more shade! - but I know that will come with time.
July 15 · Jessica BensonWe were trying to find a place to stay in lava springs and it was incredibly expensive and then we found this cute little beautiful campground and they have these old trailers that you can stand that were really nice inside, with king-size beds and air-conditioning… For about 125 bucks. Compare that to the $271 that KOA wanted to charge us for a cabin where we had to provide our own linens. $271 for KOA!!!Stay here. It's beautiful. I'm fishing right this moment and the creek is gorgeous. The camp has a lot of families with their RVs and there are kids playing and there's a nice campground and there's nice showers in those bathrooms… Do yourself this favor.
