Introduction / Overview
Lake George Riverview Campground is a well-established camping destination in the Lake George region of New York. It features 170 newly rebuilt campsites, designed to cater to a variety of camping styles, from RVs of all sizes to traditional tent setups. The campground's primary appeal lies in its serene location on a peninsula along the Schroon River, offering picturesque waterside views and direct access to the river's calm waters. While it provides a no-frills, basic camping experience, it aims to deliver the fundamental comforts and convenience needed for an Adirondack getaway. It positions itself as a spot where campers can enjoy the natural environment and use it as a stepping stone to explore the wider Lake George area and the majestic Adirondack Park.
Location and Accessibility
Lake George Riverview Campground is conveniently located at 3652 US-9, Lake George, NY 12845, USA. This strategic address places it directly on a major thoroughfare, US Route 9, which runs through the heart of the Adirondack region.
For New Yorkers, the campground's accessibility is a significant advantage. It's just approximately 4 miles north of the bustling Lake George Village, meaning a quick drive puts guests right in the midst of its shops, restaurants, boat tours, and entertainment options. Access from the New York State Thruway (I-87) is straightforward: typically, you would take Exit 21 or Exit 22 and follow the signs for US-9 North towards Lake George. This direct highway connection makes it an easy destination for travelers coming from downstate New York, the Capital Region, and other parts of the Northeast.
The campground's location on the Schroon River, a peaceful tributary of the Hudson River, offers a quieter alternative to the more heavily trafficked Lake George itself. While guests can enjoy the river's serene environment directly from their sites, the proximity to Lake George ensures that all the attractions of the "Queen of American Lakes" are just minutes away. This blend of tranquil riverside camping with easy access to a vibrant tourist hub makes Lake George Riverview Campground a well-situated choice for diverse vacation preferences.

Lake George Riverview Campground Reviews
Ugh- Another crammed in as tight as possible noisy campground. Do not believe the photos there is zero privacy among the campsites. The noise is from the road and seasonal campers. There seems to be a large number of seasonal campers and I feel that changes the vibe of a campground. This campground is a basic no frills place. Our goose poop filled site was riverfront and looked right into the neighbors window across the small river. Bathhouses are clean and the campground is clean. Somewhat safe to walk around. We ended up having an issue and reached out to campground staff for help however what ever they did just turned our stay into a hostile environment. With plenty of campgrounds in the area there is no need to spend time at this one.
Jun 17, 2025 · Karen HurleyThis campground is being run by unprofessional staff with little to no experience. They have little to no customer service/satisfaction in mind. They make and change the rules as they go along not sticking to their own policy. They have a mildly convenient location but not worth the hassle anymore. No grounds security as the gate is wide open at all times, many of the listed activities get cancelled 15 minutes after the start time with no concern or care for the children it affects, rude staff, pool is small, outdated and freezing. The grounds maintenance is beyond lacking attention. This campground is being run into the ground and I strongly recommend you don’t waste your time with them as I have for the past several years. Sites are cramped and closely reflect a parking lot. Most sites have little to no shade. I hate to post such negativity but you reap what you sow. I imagine they will sell out to a large conglomerate like their parent campground King Phillips did. Good luck.
Apr 11, 2025 · Paul EThis Family Campground is so Amazing!Always clean and the staff is so friendly! We used to go with my parents back when I was a kid and convinced my parents to start continue the tradition. When we went back, we were amazed by the remodeling done to this amazing campground! We had so many memories from there when I was a kid. Now making new memories with my little man there!
Mar 03, 2025 · Mike VlachIt's always a great experience at Lake George Riverview Campground! The facilities are ample and very clean. I can't say enough about how helpful and friendly the staff is! I'll continue to return here ❤️
Jun 17, 2025 · Linda GWe finally found our spot! I only gave 3 stars at no fault of the staff. It’s because most campers put a deposit then pay in full upon arrival. Under new ownership they changed that and want full pay before you go camping. That’s a bit much all at once on our wallet preventing us from booking in advance at this camp ground. My heart is broke thought this would be our new spot but financially with advanced booking recommended for summer at all campgrounds, it will no longer be possible for this campsite.Sad it’s under new ownership. We won’t be the only ones.
