While a Thousand Trails pass was mentioned as being used by one camper, this indicates participation in a broader network rather than a specific campground-originated promotion.

---## Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
For New York residents considering Lake George Escape Campground, its primary suitability lies in its **location and potential as a base for exploring the iconic Lake George region.** Situated on East Schroon River Road, it offers convenient access to the myriad attractions of Lake George Village, the expansive lake itself, and the broader Adirondack Park. This makes it an appealing option for locals seeking a relatively close-to-home getaway that still provides access to one of New York's premier vacation destinations.
Historically, campgrounds like Lake George Escape aimed to provide a comprehensive range of amenities, including various site types (RV, cabin) and recreational facilities. For families or groups, the idea of having on-site activities can be a significant draw, potentially reducing the need to leave the campground for entertainment. In an ideal scenario, this blend of location and amenities would make it highly suitable for New Yorkers looking for a convenient and activity-rich outdoor retreat.
However, it is crucial for local New Yorkers to be aware of and consider the very recent and consistent negative feedback regarding significant operational and maintenance issues. While the *idea* of a well-equipped campground near Lake George is attractive, current reviews highlight challenges with management responsiveness, cabin conditions (e.g., non-functional AC, plumbing issues, cleanliness, safety concerns with uneven floors), and the availability/condition of advertised recreational amenities (e.g., closed courts, broken equipment, non-operational arcade). These issues suggest that the campground, as of recent observations, may not fully deliver on the comprehensive experience one might expect.
Therefore, while Lake George Escape Campground's location offers undeniable appeal for New York locals, especially for accessing the wider Lake George area, prospective visitors should manage their expectations carefully. It might be suitable for those prioritizing location above all else and who are prepared for potentially rustic conditions and limited on-site amenities, or for those who plan to spend the majority of their time exploring outside the campground. For the most up-to-date and accurate picture, direct communication with the campground regarding the current status of facilities and recent improvements would be essential for any New York resident planning a stay here.

Lake George Escape Campground Reviews
Never coming back. Terrible management and everything. We had to bring up issues four times before anything was resolved. The staff are not knowledgeable. We stayed in one of the cabins. The AC does not work like they say it does. Our water heater pipe busted in the middle of the night and they told us to clean it up. The only person who was here overnight didn’t know anything and had no information. The water heater was resolved the next day. The bathroom had no towel rack or toilet paper holder. We requested a towel rack for four days before someone did something. Every time you mention it to someone, it’s like it’s the first time they’re ever hearing about it. The tub is dangerous, the tub floor and bathroom floor are not level. When you step out, you expect the floor to be there but it isn’t. My mom and I both fell. We assume the reason there was no towel rack is because people grab it when they fall out of the shower. The cabin was dirty. Soap scum in the shower and small black hairs in the bed sheets. We don’t have short black hair. I got a shower and after walking around for a few minutes the bottoms of my feet were very dirty. The activities are not open. They only have two miniature golf clubs. The pickleball, tennis, basketball courts are not open. The ping pong table isn’t level to play on. The arcade isn’t open. It’s the middle of the June and this place is empty. We drove around for 30 minutes and only saw three people the whole time. Due to the rain and no fault of the campground, there is flooding everywhere. Sites are swamps and the mosquitoes are insane. Some of the buildings are run down and rotting. The place is practically falling apart. It looks like it would have been a really nice place 5 years ago. Workers said management changed two years ago. Sad to see the place falling apart. They call it lake George escape campground but I surely cannot wait to escape from here.
Jun 10, 2025 · Lily BerkheimerI had a Thousand Trails pass so I decided to stay here. What a let down. Camp sites are crammed together 6’ apart, bathroom sinks in the ladies bathrooms had no running water, the showers were so scorching hot I could barely rinse the soap off myself in the shower. The place just doesn’t feel kept up. First and last time I’ll stay here. Great of you want to be right on top of your neighbors.
May 13, 2025 · Jennifer JewettOK seriously. If people are complaining that the showers are scorching hot, why would it take you so long to actually do something about it. I came to do my laundry and take a shower at the same time. The water is scorching hot. You guys are just setting yourself up for a lawsuit when someone gets scalded. Fix the damn faucets in the showers next to the laundry room Besides that one of them smelled like horses and they haven’t been cleaned and I don’t know how long. How about you people in the lodge give a shower a go. Find out. Sites aren’t that bad. I had plenty room. Expected in a place like this.
May 17, 2025 · Kathy McCormickVery disappointed with this stay at this campground The gates of the campground don’t work when pulling out the out gate was 3/4 up and couldn’t go underneath it with the camper they let you know last minute end up having to go out the end way basketball nets weren’t even put up fence around tennis courts were down cable didn’t work. Some bathrooms were closed specially the ones where the restaurant is Some activities were canceled for what reason I don’t know, but they had bingo so that they can make their money Also, there was eight people cleaning out a storage shed, which I don’t understand my niece’s daughter couldn’t even go on the swings because the swings weren’t even put up. How hard is that to do also sold my niece a bucket of mining sand for 40 something dollars then she asked where is the mining machine they said oh that’s broke, but they still have the nerve to sell her the bucket of sand. I called management three times nobody’s gotten back to me. This place is really Unprofessional What a joke the only the only person that came through was the guy Dexter who ran the game room. He said that he would be open at 5 o’clock on Saturday and he was and he took care of all the kids that came in there. What a great guy There should be more people at this campground that worked there that care about the people especially management if you can’t do your job and cant call people back then you shouldn’t be a manager.
May 21, 2025 · Robert DepolitoReally great well organized campground with tons of activities for adults and kids pets friendly, beautiful grounds to go for a walk at. We were here during Memorial Day great service, honoring falling soldiers.
