Kern River's Edge Campground Retreat Reviews
Spent 3 nights camping with family and friends. It is one of the best campgrounds I’ve ever stayed at. The bathrooms were SUPER clean and not gross like many campgrounds. It’s a small campground, but the owners and camp hosts were really friendly. I love how you can text the camp hosts for ice or firewood and they’ll deliver to your site. We stayed at the Boulder Beach site because it was large enough for our group of 17 (2 tents, 2 truck campers and a trailer). The site was very spacious with electrical hookup and our own sink. There’s a small river access next to our site that has calm waters, great to take a dip in and hang out. You can watch river rafters pass by or just sit and hear the river rushing by. There’s another little beach up the way that is a little walk up. We definitely had a wonderful time and plan on returning!
Jun 02, 2025 · Byron - Arlene MacavintaWe really enjoyed our camping experience. The campground was clean and we had a great location next to the river. There was a lot of fun activities offered by the site including volleyball, corn hole and shuffle board. They provide you with the balls, beanbags etc at no extra cost. The site was nice and level and the sand made for a comfortable base for our tent. It was close to the Trail of 100 Giants and various hot springs. The bathrooms/showers were very clean and well maintained. There. were a couple downsides with our stay; the main "store" was closed more than it was open although there was a host staying in the campground that you could go to for ice and wood and items to play the games mentioned above. The other negative was it was very close to the main road so you could hear the traffic throughout the day/night. Finally, we ordered 5 cords of wood but what was delivered was a pile of wood that looks like a lot less. Plus they penalize you if you pick up dead logs from the area to use as firewood. Overall, I think a more secluded area would have been better but if you have kids, they will enjoy the games and other amenities.
Apr 11, 2025 · Daren Di NicolaOur family of 8 just had the best 3 day/2 night stay at KRE! It was easy to find. Upon arrival, we entered the camp store to check in and were greeted by the cutest camp host ever, Jango the dog. The hosts at the counter were friendly and helpful, and explained the map of the site to us. They also informed us that we could order ice and firewood via text to be delivered to our site, which was awesome and totally came in handy throughout our stay. The camp store is well stocked with anything you might need. We were so impressed with the whole campsite…the location and proximity to the river is perfect! The views were breathtaking. We had the time of our lives perched on the river beaches enjoying the sun and floating around. The campsite itself is incredibly clean. The bathrooms are extremely well kept. Shower pressure and temp was PHENOMENAL 😂 we seriously all kept raving about how the showers were better than the ones at our own homes. There are plenty of sinks for washing dishes and the water is safe for cooking. Those were very handy. The volleyball court, corn hole, and grassy area in the middle was great and we used it the whole time! The owner came around on his golf cart and checked on us, he was so friendly and we had a great chat. Everyone that works here is wonderful. We walked around the whole place and I don’t think you could go wrong with any of the camping spaces, because it is all so close to the river. We wished we were closer to the flush toilets because the port o potties were not great (what port o potties are ever good though? Not a big deal) but had no issue walking to use the flush toilets. Honestly this is probably the best campsite I’ve stayed at! We will most definitely be back.
Jul 02, 2025 · Maria KintEverything from the check in process to needing late night firewood was so convenient and quick. Camp hosts were very attentive through our stay and really take pride in keeping the facilities in great shape.I’d recommend taking cash, for unexpected purchases or to use at the quarter machine which is needed to operate the showers. We had a great time borrowing all the games which kept us active throughout our stay. Prior to checking in we did some rafting with Sierra South Mountain Sports (definitely recommend). Overall great weekend! Thanks again!
May 13, 2025 · Marissa NunezThis campground is half of the reason I fell in love with Kernville. I started coming here for work trips and now bring my kids. Campground is well maintained, sites are great- outlined by large rocks, lots of plants, right next to the river, nice restroom building. Staff have always been so nice and truthfully all of the locals are so so nice as well. Just two miles down from the adorable country western town. If you're into country western movies, lots have been filmed here/near here so make sure to visit the museum about them. Genuinely can't say enough about the campground and the whole town.
