Juniper Family Campground Reviews
It’s a nice campground with plenty of sites that are reservable or first come first serve. Hiking trails start out of the campground and one leads down to the Bandelier visitor’s center. There is shuttle bus service that will take you there also.I stayed two weeks in a first come first serve site. The site are small and not very level with the road very narrow. I had a hard time getting set up with a 38 foot camper and had to park my truck elsewhere. I still gave it 5 stars because of the location
Jun 12, 2025 · SantiagoNot too much shade. We got to park very close to the bathroom. They have a sink to wash dishes. Clean bathrooms. About 15min from bandelier. 25min to white rock where you can get ice. Stayed 2 nights and it was a fun, nice experience.
Jun 28, 2025 · Meghan HughesStayed at Juniper twice and had great experiences . Quiet campground with very clean bathrooms and easy access to several nearby trails. Some of the driveways are tight and far from level so would hesitate to bring in a large trailer.
Feb 07, 2025 · Matthew EarthmanWe stayed here for 3 nights in mid-May 2024, using it as a base for exploring Bandelier National Monument and the surrounding area. Our site was near one the restroom with running (cold) water. There is a sink conveniently located outside the restroom for dish washing. The restroom is well-stocked and clean. We had originally reserved site #20 but could not use it as it the driveway was too much of a slope for our camper-van, so we moved to site #12 in the non-reservable section. With daytime temperatures in the mid-70°s and low-50°s in the morning, it was a pleasant time of the year to stay here.We hiked the easy, 1-1/2 mile Frijoles Canyon overlook trail loop from the campground, providing a scenic view this area of the park.Highly recommended!
Jul 15, 2024 · David LobreeGreat semi dry campsite, great historical for our stay. Be warned: as most sites are FCFF, the recreation.gov reservable sites seem to be the crappy ones. We had to change ours. And don't bring any big campers, it's a tight place.
