Junction City Campground

CA-299, Junction City, CA 96048, USA

4.0
Junction City Campground is located immediately adjacent to the highway, but is otherwise a nice little park. There were very few other campers during our mid-week stay. We picked a pull-through site at the north end of the campground, but that turned out to be a bad choice because it was located near a stagnant pond along the edge of the highway and it smelled as though something had died there recently. After we were set up, the host warned us about the pond and told us to feel free to find another spot even though we’d already registered for this one. We opted to stay because the smell wasn’t noticeable inside the coach and only occasionally noticeable outside. - Robert Hyatt (Bob)

It's a prime spot for those looking to experience the natural beauty of Northern California's forests and rivers, with the ease of direct road access.

One of the standout features consistently praised by visitors is the quality of the camp host. Described as a "pleasant surprise," one reviewer noted, "she was obviously serious about your comfort at this campground, she was caring about the campground appearance without being overbearing with the rules." This dedication to guest experience, even "ON A BUSY 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND," speaks volumes about the level of service campers can expect. The campground itself is characterized by "Big campsites, well shaded, large fire pits," providing ample space and essential amenities for a comfortable stay. While its immediate adjacency to Highway 299 is noted, campers report that it "still felt private," which is a significant advantage for a convenient roadside location.

Despite a minor issue with a stagnant pond at one specific site during a reviewer's stay, the overall consensus points to a well-managed and enjoyable camping environment. The host's proactive offer to change sites, even after registration, demonstrates a genuine commitment to camper satisfaction. Junction City Campground offers a solid choice for those seeking a practical, shaded, and well-maintained spot to enjoy the Trinity River area, providing a welcoming atmosphere for all who visit.
