One of my favorite campgrounds! Perfect for hiking Pilot Mountain, with stunning views and a big open field for stargazing. Clean, spacious bathrooms, friendly on-site dogs, and incredibly kind owner who will check in on you after you arrive. While scouting trails with a friend for a military trip, my car battery died. I texted the campground, and within 20 minutes, someone showed up, jump-started my car, recommended a nearby shop, and even lent me his portable battery.Truly one of the most genuine, welcoming places I’ve stayed. The sites have fire rings and picnic tables, there’s water available among the sites, and the restrooms are simple but clean and have hot water in the showers. There is no camp office, you register online. The owner has three lovely dogs (two German Shepherds and a Border Collie, all super sweet and friendly) that roam the campground and greet campers.I came here to climb Mount pilot. It’s a great campground for climbers. The owner is a really great guy. When I got to pilot Mountain I noticed I had a screw in my tire. It had clearly been there for a several days because it was worn down to just a nub. I stopped at the auto parts store and picked up a tire plug kit. When I got back to the campground the owner lent me a pair of needle nose pliers and ran an air hose out to my truck so I could plug my tire and air it up. What more could you ask for?Photo of one of the sweet dog greeters.
May 19, 2025 · Savage MiniThis campground is great! Spent the weekend here for a family get away and it was so peaceful and beautiful. The owners were always out taking to the campers and were very helpful. The scenery was beautiful, being able to sit around the fire or table and get a great view of Pilot Mountain was nice. Easy walking to places around the camp and very close to Pilot Mountain/Hanging Rock state parks & Mnt. Airy.
May 27, 2025 · Janeice LeonardThis is a great campground the owner and his dogs are awesome. Great views of Pilot mountain. Would be cool to see some music there is a stage but I am not sure that happens as much either way will be back.
Apr 20, 2025 · J MaginWe booked and stayed two nights, owner was out and about the entire campground very friendly made contact with us intentionally. We were invited to a cookout with family members last minute which left us in a pickle of not being able to be off the site at noon per policy, I reached out to the owner and explained the situation and he gladly told us we could leave out pickup and travel trailer until out family gathering was over. Hands down will stay here again and again in the future!
