Gorgeous location had a wonderful and beautiful weekend. The low star review is simply from the rude encounter after we left. My boys had brought a giant log to the campsite to sit on (brought up to the site from deep in the trees) and one of my younger kids wrote a message on it. When we left the campsite was in perfect condition not a piece of trash or anything left behind, however I did forget to push the log back down and I received these texts from camp host. It’s a shame since it was an otherwise lovely place. (Pictures he sent are of the one singular log the kids brought up) - Noodlesoup22

Jackson Campground on the Applegate River Introduce

For Oregonians seeking a truly picturesque and tranquil escape into nature, Jackson Campground on the beautiful Applegate River offers an idyllic setting in Southern Oregon. Nestled in the heart of the scenic Applegate Valley, this campground provides a perfect blend of riverside serenity and accessibility to a wealth of outdoor activities. If you’re a local looking for a charming spot to pitch your tent or park your RV (with some considerations for size), enjoy excellent fishing, or simply unwind by the soothing sounds of the river, Jackson Campground is a wonderful choice. This article is crafted specifically for our fellow Oregon residents, providing a clear, engaging, and factual overview of what makes Jackson Campground a suitable and appealing destination for your next adventure.

Oregon is renowned for its diverse natural beauty, from the rugged coastlines to the majestic Cascades. The Applegate Valley, where Jackson Campground is situated, offers a unique charm with its rolling hills, vineyards, and, of course, the vibrant Applegate River. We understand that for many Oregonians, finding a well-maintained campground that feels close to nature yet offers essential comforts is key to a successful outdoor experience. Jackson Campground delivers on this front, providing clean sites and flush toilets, a welcome amenity that elevates it above more primitive options. Despite one isolated report of a cleanliness issue in a restroom, the overall sentiment points to "really nice" bathrooms and "clean and well maintained" sites, suggesting these are exceptions rather than the norm. The presence of attentive camp staff also adds a layer of comfort and support, ensuring a welcoming environment for all visitors. It’s a place where you can truly relax and enjoy the natural splendor that makes our state so special.

Jackson Campground is conveniently located at 10250 Upper Applegate Rd, Jacksonville, OR 97530, USA. This places it directly on the banks of the Applegate River, within the beautiful Applegate Valley, and north of the Red Buttes Wilderness Area. For Oregon residents, accessing the campground is relatively straightforward. It's situated near historic Jacksonville, as well as the larger towns of Medford and Grants Pass, making it an accessible retreat from various parts of Southern Oregon.

The drive to Jackson Campground typically involves navigating paved roads leading into the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. While the sites are generally "easy to access with a trailer," it's important to note that "camp trailers are not recommended due to tight corners and short campsite spur lengths" for some sites (up to 25 feet maximum vehicle length). This suggests that while RVs are accommodated, larger rigs might find maneuvering more challenging in certain spots. The day-use area is conveniently adjacent to the campground, allowing for easy access to day activities even for non-campers. It's also worth noting that cell service can be poor in the area, which contributes to the feeling of getting away from it all but also necessitates being prepared with downloaded maps or other communication methods. This blend of accessibility for various camping styles and a genuine sense of being immersed in nature makes Jackson Campground a desirable location for Oregon locals seeking a convenient yet serene outdoor experience.
