For many Alabamians, the journey along Interstate 10, whether for work or leisure, often requires a convenient and accessible place to rest and recharge. I-10 Kampground in Theodore, Alabama, presents itself as a straightforward option for those seeking a stopover that prioritizes location and basic utility hookups. Situated just off this major artery, it caters primarily to RV travelers looking for a practical solution during their travels through the Gulf Coast region.
Understanding the varied needs of campers, from those on a quick overnight stay to individuals requiring longer-term accommodations, I-10 Kampground aims to provide essential services. While it may not offer the extensive amenities of a luxury resort, its appeal lies in its utility and direct approach to catering to the needs of RV owners. This article will provide a factual overview of I-10 Kampground, detailing its location, the services it offers, and what makes it a suitable consideration for those traversing or staying in the Mobile area of Alabama. We aim to present an informative perspective for local users, helping them determine if this campground aligns with their travel and accommodation expectations.
I-10 Kampground is strategically located at 6430 Theodore Dawes Rd, Theodore, AL 36582, USA. This address places it very close to Interstate 10, a significant east-west highway stretching across the southern United States. For travelers, its proximity to I-10 is a major advantage, offering quick and easy on-and-off access, which is crucial for those on long drives or needing a convenient stop. Theodore, Alabama, is a community situated southwest of Mobile, providing a less congested environment than a direct city-center location, yet still within a reasonable driving distance to Mobile's attractions and services.
The location makes it particularly convenient for Alabamians traveling to or from other states along the Gulf Coast, or for those exploring the Mobile metropolitan area without wanting to stay directly within the urban sprawl. While the immediate surroundings of the campground may be more functional than scenic, the ease of access to major transportation routes makes it a highly practical choice for many types of travelers, including truck drivers, construction workers, or vacationers simply passing through. Its accessibility streamlines the process of settling in after a day on the road, which is often a key priority for RV users.
I-10 Kampground focuses on providing the fundamental services expected by RV campers for a functional stay. Based on available public information and customer experiences, the primary offerings include:
RV Sites with Hookups: The campground offers designated spots primarily for RVs. It can be inferred that these sites generally provide essential hookups, such as electricity and water, which are standard for RV parks. While specific details on sewer hookups for every site are not explicitly detailed, such facilities are typically available at Kampgrounds designed for RVs. The availability of these hookups allows campers to utilize their onboard amenities.
Bathhouse Access (with noted inconsistencies): The campground does have a bathhouse, which includes showers and toilets. However, it is crucial for prospective visitors to be aware that reviews frequently mention significant inconsistencies in its availability and functionality. Users report that the bathhouse is "rarely open," often locked, or has "Out of Order" signs on showers and toilets. This suggests that while the facility exists, its reliable access cannot be guaranteed, which is a significant consideration for campers who rely on shared facilities.
Office Services: There is an on-site office for communication, reservations, and potentially inquiries. However, customer feedback indicates that the office staff may sometimes be "rude when asked about things, and seem to never have answers," particularly regarding issues like bathhouse access or property maintenance. This suggests that direct communication or problem resolution might be challenging at times.
Site-Specific Features: While general upkeep such as lawn mowing and gravel maintenance are noted as inconsistent, individual sites are equipped with a designated space for RVs. The "uneven" nature of many spots suggests that some leveling may be required by campers upon arrival.
While I-10 Kampground operates on a more basic model, it does possess certain characteristics that might appeal to specific types of travelers:
Exceptional Interstate Accessibility: The most significant highlight of I-10 Kampground is its unparalleled proximity and ease of access to Interstate 10. For those driving long distances, this factor alone can be a deciding convenience, minimizing detours and maximizing travel time.
Affordable Stay Option: While recent rent increases are noted, the campground generally positions itself as a budget-friendly alternative for RV parking compared to higher-priced resorts. This makes it attractive for travelers on a tighter budget, seasonal workers, or individuals seeking long-term, cost-effective RV accommodations.
Practicality over Amenities: For campers who are self-sufficient in their RVs and do not require extensive recreational facilities, I-10 Kampground offers a no-frills, functional parking spot with essential hookups. This appeals to those who view a campground as primarily a place to sleep and connect utilities.
Potential for Long-Term Stays: The presence of consistent tenants and the nature of the reviews, which mention "renters" and "rent lowered," suggest that the campground accommodates longer-term stays. This could be beneficial for those working in the Mobile area or needing temporary housing.
Proximity to Local Amenities: Despite its immediate surroundings, the campground's location in Theodore offers relatively quick access to local services, gas stations, and stores, which are important conveniences for travelers.
Potential for Improvement: While current reviews highlight areas needing improvement (phone system, bathhouse consistency, maintenance), the "clean and organized appearance" noted by one visitor on inspection suggests that when operations are smooth, the fundamental infrastructure can be quite functional.

The ability to manage your own utilities within your RV can mitigate concerns about the shared bathhouse. In essence, I-10 Kampground is suitable for the pragmatic Alabamian RVer who values location, affordability, and basic functionality above all else. It's a utilitarian choice for those who understand its limitations but can leverage its core strengths for a convenient and economical stay near Mobile. For the independent traveler who is largely self-sufficient in their RV, I-10 Kampground offers a dependable, if unadorned, base for their journeys or extended stays in the region.

I-10 Kampground Reviews
I read several reviews, positive and negative, and tried unsuccessfully to contact the business by phone. It seems that there is a problem with the phone system. After many attempts at various hours during posted business hours, my wife and I visited the campground. We were impressed by the clean and organized appearance. We finally communicated with the staff and reserved a spot. I believe that someone needs to resolve the problem with the phone. This problem surely results in lost business.
Jun 06, 2025 · Glynn McCormickDon’t stay here.My husband and I chose to stay here because they have a bathhouse, however it is rarely open. It’s a gamble each day of whether they will open it or not. Having no other choice, we signed up for a gym membership just to have access to a shower. We asked the person in the office if we could have our rent lowered by the cost of the gym membership ($25) and were refused. Despite the fact that they recently went up on rent by $50, and no improvements to the property have been made. They do not keep the lawns cut or weed-eated. There is trash all around the edges of the property. Most of the spots are uneven and need new gravel placed. The office staff are often rude when asked about things, and seem to never have answers (I.e. when asking about the bathhouse or lawn maintenance). For 3 days in a row without warning our water was cut off all day. When my husband called the office to ask what was going on, the woman on the phone simply said, “Well they’re working on your row’s water line. Didn’t you see them?” We were not notified initially that they would be working on it, or for how long. We were all notified about the price increase on rent though. Most of the time there is an “Out of Order” sign on the bathhouse, and there are also a lot of the showers and toilets Out of Order as well. Often there is no sign at all, but the door is still locked, and no one is in the office either. All around this is a greedy business that refuses to fix issues, or properly notify their renters.
Feb 28, 2025 · Sarah FitzpatrickWhile the few large concrete pads in front are enticing, a walk around the park you realize this is mostly intended for workers and as homes for people on a budget.Someone made a mistake when running sewer lines before pouring those beautiful concrete pads: the lines are forward on the pads instead of towards the rear like most trailer valve are. It took three lengths of sewer hose to reach the pipe AND the whole thing is on a slope resulting in a very poor degree of angle. I had to carefully detach and lift the hose myself to clear the sludge. These concrete pads are at the front of the park and therefore near the road which remains busy till the early hours.
Mar 06, 2025 · andrew wylieConvenient to pull in to stay for the night. Don't think about using theNorestrooms or laundry. They're horrible! The days we were here they were never cleaned. I went in to take some pictures and had to hold my nose. It would gag a maget. Where can I post these pictures! Be ashamed! Corporate office pay attention! Worst restrooms I've EVER seen in an RV park!
Mar 17, 2025 · Larry AndersonGreat location! Pool is always clean and nice not a big pool but never have to worry about it not being cleaned. It’s super quiet all the time haven’t had any complaints or problems at all. Office staff is very friendly and helpful!! The hookups even come with a cable hookup that’s free. Bathhouse is always clean and the laundry room always looks clean for the amount of people here. Overall it’s a really nice setup and place to stay!!
