Hipcamp Outpost Introduce
For Californians, the dream of escaping to the outdoors often involves navigating crowded national parks or limited state park availability. This is where **Hipcamp**, a pioneering online platform headquartered in San Francisco, steps in to revolutionize how locals find and book their next outdoor adventure. More than just a traditional "campground," Hipcamp acts as a comprehensive marketplace, connecting adventurers with unique camping, glamping, and RV sites on private lands, ranches, farms, vineyards, and even obscure public properties that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Hipcamp was founded on the principle of making it easier for people to get outside and explore, by unlocking access to a vast network of unique outdoor spaces. It diversifies the traditional camping landscape, offering experiences that range from primitive tent camping under starry skies to luxurious glamping setups with all the comforts of home, and well-equipped RV sites. This innovative approach allows Californians to discover hidden gems and less-traveled spots, often providing more privacy and unique settings than conventional campgrounds.
While the reviews provided touch upon some challenges with customer service and site accuracy, it's important to understand Hipcamp's broader vision and its role in expanding outdoor access. It functions as a bridge between landowners (or "Hosts") who want to share their property and campers seeking distinctive experiences. This peer-to-peer model offers incredible variety, from coastal retreats to desert escapes and mountain hideaways, all accessible through a single platform. For Californians, Hipcamp represents an exciting opportunity to explore the diverse landscapes of their home state in ways that were previously difficult to discover. It's about finding that perfect, tailor-made outdoor escape, whether it's a rustic campsite on a working farm or a luxurious tent overlooking a vineyard.
This overview aims to introduce Californians to Hipcamp not as a single physical campground, but as a dynamic and expanding resource that redefines the possibilities for outdoor stays across the Golden State.
Hipcamp’s corporate headquarters are located at **965 Mission St Suite 480, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA**. However, it’s crucial to understand that this address is for their corporate operations, not a physical camping site open to the public. As an online platform, Hipcamp’s "locations" are distributed across California and indeed, the entire United States, encompassing thousands of diverse properties where individuals can camp.
For Californians, the accessibility of Hipcamp lies in its digital nature. Users can access the platform via its website or mobile app from anywhere with internet connectivity. This means that from the comfort of their homes in Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento, or any other part of California, they can browse, filter, and book camping experiences tailored to their preferences. The geographic reach of Hipcamp's listings extends throughout the state, from the redwood forests of the North Coast to the deserts of Southern California, and everything in between – including the Sierra Nevada mountains, the Central Coast, and the various valleys.
This distributed network of sites means that regardless of where a Californian lives, there are likely Hipcamp listings within a reasonable driving distance, offering a wide array of environments and experiences. The platform’s search filters allow users to narrow down options by location, type of accommodation, amenities, and activities, making it highly accessible for finding a perfect local getaway. While the physical address provided is for their main office, the true "location and accessibility" of Hipcamp is its widespread digital presence, connecting campers to countless outdoor spots across California.

This offers unique camping opportunities that are otherwise inaccessible to the general public, providing truly distinctive and often more private experiences.
- **Variety of Outdoor Stays:** Hipcamp goes beyond traditional tent or RV sites, featuring a wide array of glamping options (yurts, cabins, treehouses, safari tents) that cater to those seeking a blend of nature and comfort. - **Community-Driven Content:** User reviews and photos provide authentic insights into the camping experience at each site, offering valuable perspectives from fellow campers.
- **Local and Niche Experiences:** Hipcamp highlights local, often niche, experiences that connect campers directly with the land and its stewards. This could include opportunities to interact with farm animals, enjoy fresh produce, or learn about sustainable practices.

Hipcamp Outpost Reviews
We have been using Hipcamp for several years & enjoyed the service up until we experienced a safety concern at a site a few weeks ago. It is clear now that the service was only enjoyable because we were lucky enough to have stayed with trustworthy hosts up until then. Hipcamp does not value camper safety or privacy & puts the burden on the camper to prove issues at sites to an unreasonable degree. The short of it is, my partner & I are avid campers and have camped at a diverse range of sites for many years. Remote, populated, with & without amenities, etc. We felt unsafe at this campsite. This is a subjective opinion, but it is how we felt nonetheless & had a list of reasons for those feelings. The host was rude & confrontational when we expressed these feelings. Hipcamp support was unhelpful in mediation. A refund was denied several times & instead my character was attacked. No one on their team believed me. And the host saw no repercussions; it even appears they have adjusted the site's rating to exclude my negative review. Hipcamp support only offered a refund after I contacted my bank for help & the request was escalated.I wish we had documented the safety issues in photos, as we were not believed & the host lied about the site/experience (on their listing, to support, and through public review replies online). I truly thought our concerns would be handled quickly & professionally, but my trust in the service was misplaced. Please don't make the same mistake we did.
Sep 06, 2023 · Kayl ParkerTitle: Disappointing Experience with Hipcamp's Customer ServiceRating: ★★☆☆☆I recently had the misfortune of using Hipcamp for a camping reservation, and I must say that my overall customer experience was extremely disappointing. From start to finish, I encountered numerous issues, and the customer service I received only exacerbated the problems.First and foremost, I found Hipcamp's website to be clunky and unintuitive. The process of searching for available campsites was unnecessarily complicated, and the filters provided were directing me to locations that were two hours sway from my search parameters. It was frustrating to spend hours trying to find a suitable campsite, only to end up settling for a one that hipcamp says was close to Mendocino but in actuality it was 2.5 hours away and did not realize this on the hip camp platform. However, the real nightmare began when I had to contact Hipcamp's customer service. Despite their claims of providing 24/7 support, their response time was abysmal. Their lack of urgency and poor communication left me feeling frustrated and unheard. When I finally managed to reach a customer service representative, I was met with an indifferent and unhelpful attitude. Instead of offering genuine solutions, like a credit or refund the representative seemed more interested in shifting the blame and making excuses for the company's shortcomings. Their lack of empathy and professionalism was evident, making it clear that customer satisfaction was not a priority for Hipcamp. To make matters worse, It was evident that Hipcamp had failed to ensure accurate information, leading to a complete mismatch between expectations and reality. Their lack of transparency, poor communication, and unresponsive support left a sour taste. In conclusion, my experience with Hipcamp's customer service and overall customer experience was subpar. The website's usability was frustrating, the customer service was unhelpful and indifferent, and the misleading information about the campsites location was deeply disappointing. I would caution anyone considering using Hipcamp to think twice and explore alternative options that prioritize customer satisfaction and transparency.
May 26, 2023 · Kendall ErmsharBEWARE on use of Hipcamp. They do not post honest negative reviews so you never know what the truth about your potential site is. There is ZERO support if you have an issue. If you cancel, they are keeping the fee they charge you even if the host refunds your money.
Jul 20, 2024 · Jacqueline OshierDo you love campers partying 10’ outside your back door? Right next to where your kids play? I love this concept and as avid campers with little kids, we are always looking for new ways to get outside. What I don’t love is that Hipcamp is allowing our neighbor to list an 8 site commercial campground in our residential neighborhood. They’ve been sent a cease and desist letter by the county twice, and Hipcamp will not take down this illegal listing after repeated requests from neighbors. Hipcamp should be embarrassed about perpetuating this nuisance and needs to do better if they want this business model to survive.I’ve reported this over the course of the last 11 months - most recently support ticket 1106924. Please don’t reply and tell me you don’t know about this. You can check in with Candice and Emily who have fielded my requests and not taken action.
Jun 09, 2022 · Eric AlbertsonWe spent 3 glorious days camping in our travel trailer at Mountain Top Barn Camping. It was so quiet and provided a wonderful respite. We parked next to the barn and hookedup our rig to water and electricity. We were just steps away from the bathroom that's in the barn. We hiked around the property and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. The Big House and Cabin are up the road and we had a short chat with the owner. We'll be back!
