Hill AFB Fam Camp Introduce
Hill AFB Fam Camp provides a premier camping experience for those with military credentials in Utah, standing out as a well-maintained and highly-rated destination. This is not a public campground, as it's exclusively for active duty, retired military, military dependents, DoD civilians, and contractors. Its location on Hill Air Force Base offers a unique sense of security and a wide range of on-base amenities that are typically unavailable at other campgrounds. Whether you're a local family looking for a weekend escape or a service member passing through, Hill AFB Fam Camp offers a comfortable and convenient home base with full hookups and a host of family-friendly features.
The campground is known for its "great park with all the amenities" and its dedication to providing a high-quality experience. The staff, including the camp hosts, are praised for being helpful and welcoming, ensuring a smooth check-in process even during off-hours. This commitment to service, combined with the clean facilities and well-kept grounds, makes it a top choice for eligible campers. The presence of a spacious dog park, a nearby splash pad, and a clean laundry room are just a few of the amenities that make this campground feel more like a home away from home. Hill AFB Fam Camp is located at Building 1235, Hill AFB, UT 84056, USA. It is conveniently situated near Layton and Ogden, and just a short drive from the attractions of Salt Lake City, offering a perfect blend of on-base convenience and off-base exploration.
Access to the campground is through the base gates. Visitors should be aware of Hill Air Force Base's security procedures. It is recommended to use the South Gate, which is open on weekends. While the Fam Camp office may have limited hours, camp hosts are typically available to assist with check-ins. For those without a Common Access Card (CAC) or military ID, it is necessary to go to the South Gate Visitor Control Center to obtain a visitor pass. This process requires a valid ID and a background check. The campground itself is easy to navigate with pull-through and back-in sites, accommodating even large rigs and fifth wheels. On-site parking at each spot makes setting up camp a breeze.

June 17 · Kaja SWIEBWe used the Hill AFB South Gate Visitor Center to make sure our gps was routing us to the south gate which was open on a Sunday afternoon. The famcamp office was closed, but the camp host greeted us, gave us a map and information sheet, and directed us to our site. We had a pull through, 50 amp, full hookup site that was reasonably long and wide. The laundry room was clean, $1.00 per cycle. A cushioned track, play ground, splash pad, and shaded/fenced dog area are nearby. The RV park roads were easy to navigate with our truck and 5th wheel totalling 53 ft long.
July 10 · Christine LairdWe love visiting the splash pad and park here! It's conveniently placed right when you first enter Hill AFB, and there are plenty of parking and camping spots for RVs. I personally haven't used the RV area, but there it looks great! There is also a nice restroom and a couple of pavilions by the park/splash pad area.
July 12 · Karina BertelliExcept a little noise from the ✈ 🙉jets it is great. Nice level concrete pads. Pups loved the green grassy dog park. Of course there is always the lazy ones that won't pickup after their pups. Laundry wonderful to use after dry camping for a couple weeks.Hill Aerospace Museum is worth the visit if you aren't in a hurry.
