Heartland Campground Introduce
For many Kentuckians, finding a convenient and affordable place to park an RV, especially for extended periods related to work or other long-term needs, is a crucial consideration. Heartland Campground in Campbellsville, Kentucky, positioned in the heart of the state, offers itself as a practical solution for such requirements. While it may not fit the traditional image of a recreational family campground filled with amenities for leisure, it serves a distinct purpose for a specific segment of the RV community, particularly those seeking economical long-term rates or lodging for work crews. This article aims to provide a clear and factual overview of Heartland Campground, helping local users in Kentucky understand its unique environment and determine if it aligns with their specific camping needs.
It’s important to approach Heartland Campground with a clear understanding of its primary function. As detailed by past visitors, it’s often described less as a typical recreational campground and more as a "gravel lot for campers" that caters significantly to "permanent residents and construction crews." This distinction is vital for Kentucky residents planning a stay. While the owner, Jeff, is consistently praised for being "super nice" and offering "super cheap for monthly rates," the overall atmosphere and facilities are geared towards functionality and affordability rather than a resort-style experience. For those whose priority is a budget-friendly spot with full hookups for an extended stay while working in the area, Heartland Campground could be a viable option. However, for families seeking a traditional recreational camping experience with abundant amenities and a pristine environment, setting expectations accordingly is crucial.
Heartland Campground is located at 278 Heartland Dr, Campbellsville, KY 42718, USA. Campbellsville is situated in central Kentucky, offering a fairly accessible location for residents across the state. This central positioning means it's within a reasonable driving distance from various parts of Kentucky, making it a practical choice for those working on projects in the surrounding area or needing a long-term base.
The campground’s address on "Heartland Dr" suggests a dedicated area for the park, though reviews indicate it might be more industrial or functional in its immediate surroundings rather than heavily wooded or scenic. Its proximity to Campbellsville means that basic necessities such as grocery stores, fuel, and other services are readily available in town. This urban accessibility, while perhaps detracting from a wilderness feel, adds to its practicality for long-term residents and workers who need to easily commute and access daily conveniences. Being close to an Amazon fulfillment center, as mentioned in some reviews, further solidifies its role as a convenient lodging option for workers in the area, contributing to its population of construction crews and permanent residents.

For Kentucky residents, Heartland Campground in Campbellsville occupies a very specific niche, making it suitable for certain types of stays but not others. Based on detailed customer reviews, its primary suitability lies in providing an extremely cost-effective solution for long-term RV parking, especially for individuals or crews working in the Campbellsville area. The "super cheap for monthly rates" is undeniably a major advantage, making it an attractive option for those prioritizing budget over traditional recreational amenities.
The consistent praise for the owner, Jeff, who is described as "super nice" and personally "hand delivered Amazon packages," highlights a valuable aspect of the campground. For long-term residents or workers, having an accommodating and helpful manager can significantly improve the quality of their stay, even in a less-than-ideal environment. The availability of clean laundry facilities is another practical benefit that caters directly to the needs of extended-stay guests, ensuring comfort and convenience for daily living.
However, it is critically important for Kentucky locals to understand that Heartland Campground is definitively "NOT A RECREATIONAL campground." Reviews clearly state, "it’s a gravel lot for campers" and is "mostly made up of permanent residents and construction crews." This means families looking for a traditional camping experience with amenities like playgrounds, swimming pools, hiking trails, or a natural, aesthetically pleasing environment will likely be disappointed. The presence of "multiple dilapidated dwellings" and "zero restrictions to 'camping' there," leading to some "campers looked uninhabitable," creates an atmosphere that is far from a typical vacation spot. The reported issues with "cockroaches literally everywhere" and an "awful atmosphere" due to perceived arbitrary management decisions against certain residents further underscore that this is a very particular type of park.
Therefore, Heartland Campground is most suitable for Kentucky residents who:
- Are seeking a highly affordable, long-term RV parking solution.
- Are working in the Campbellsville area and need a convenient place to stay with full hookups.
- Do not require recreational amenities or a scenic camping environment.
- Are self-sufficient and comfortable in a utilitarian setting, potentially surrounded by long-term residents and work crews.
- Prioritize cost savings and basic functionality above all else.

Heartland Campground Reviews
The owner Jeff is super nice and it was super cheap for monthly rates which is why I gave it 3 stars. Otherwise…I wouldn’t call it a campground. it’s a gravel lot for campers. It is NOT A RECREATIONAL campground. It’s mostly made up of permanent residents and construction crews -which is why we stayed…husband worked in the area and coworkers were there first so we just followed. We kept our campers close together and kept to ourselves mostly. There were multiple dilapidated dwellings. One of which is a cargo trailer with fans stuck in the door and multiple tarps spread between trucks/trailers/camper. There are zero restrictions to “camping” there. Some campers looked uninhabitable but I guess paid the lot rent so were parked there. The washers and dryers were clean and the “clubhouse” was mostly clean…however you would walk in early mornings to unpleasant smells from previous nights activities. Again, Jeff was super nice and hand delivered Amazon packages and it was super cheap but this is def a place to park to sleep and def not a recreation location.
Aug 02, 2022 · LeeAnna McDanielcockroaches literally everywhere, awful atmosphere, manager had me feeling like i was back in grade school trying not to squirm in my seat too much. AKA she arbitrarily decides certain people are undesirable and makes their lives terrible.
Apr 04, 2025 · Rosen MelatheIt is a very convenient spot. Basically a parking lot with many full timers. Many RVs were run down. But if you have to be in the area it fine. Very inexpensive and staff was nice.
May 15, 2024 · ERIC “Salt2Sand” SMITHPoor Wi-Fi services. Old washer/dryer. Increased prices. Dirty little secrets behind closed office doors. Police came 3 times: not all are nice! Bathrooms no privacy, I never used it after seeing a roach in there. Would not return. You’re lucky I don’t see them after being slandered I don’t know why people draw the bad people but the manager there she’s awful ! And you have to get on your knees to connect water connection deep in the ground! Very disappointing. Because they don’t fix anything. Too busy smoking, taking trips to Michigan to buy to resell. Need I say more!
