Heart O' the Hills Campground Reviews
A first come, first serve campground. Even on near Memorial Day, we were able to find a campsite, just get there earlier in the day. It’s nice that there are still campgrounds like this that don’t allow the snobs with 80ft rvs to hog the campground all summer
Jun 26, 2025 · DylanGreat campground close to Port Angeles. On the way to the iconic Hurricane Ridge area. Lots of great hiking and views
May 17, 2025 · Bailey KessingArrived Wed at 10:30am. There were many campsites available. Didn't fill up until around 6pm. Most people only stayed one night so campground was emptied by the next morning. Rinse and repeat. By checkout on Friday, there were empty campsites. Not all of the campsite loops were open, I'd guess half the campground was closed. Each campsite gets a picnic table and fire pit with a grill attached. Space for up to 2 cars or 1 RV for most sites.Takes card, no cash. Toilets seem brand new and they flush. Really nice!30 min drive from Hurricane Ridge. Amazing to get 24/7 access to the park from the camp.
Jun 21, 2025 · Mina LeeThis is a great campground. We rolled in on a Thursday evening, hoping we were there early enough to snag a spot, since it's all first-come, first-served. There were quite a few to pick from and we ended up with a great spot. By Friday night, there was only a few spots left. The good: flush toilets! We heard owls every night. Also, they have astronomy presentations up at Hurricane Ridge, which is cool. The bad: no showers and the bathrooms in A-Loop were closed for renovation. Also, the fire ban sucked.
Jul 31, 2024 · Mike KalkofenHeart O’ the Hills Campground is a serene, forested haven that serves as a perfect basecamp for exploring Hurricane Ridge and the greater Olympic National Park. Nestled in a dense old-growth forest of towering cedars and firs, the campground feels deeply secluded, yet it’s conveniently located just minutes from Port Angeles and the Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center.Campsites are well-spaced, offering a sense of privacy and immersion in nature. The thick canopy creates a cool, shaded environment even on hot days, and the forest floor is carpeted with ferns and mosses that give the whole place an enchanted, Pacific Northwest vibe.Facilities are basic but clean—pit toilets, potable water, and well-maintained picnic tables and fire rings. There are several short trails accessible right from the campground, great for a quiet evening stroll or morning coffee walk. The elevation also makes for cooler nights, so come prepared. While you won’t find hookups or reservations here (it’s first-come, first-served), the reward is a quiet, peaceful setting filled with birdsong and the occasional deer wandering through your site.Heart O’ the Hills is ideal for tent campers, vanlifers, and anyone seeking a rustic, woodland experience close to one of the park’s most scenic areas.
