Hawthorne Campground Reviews
Hidden Gem!We booked the group site for a neighborhood overnight camping trip. The grass area was so well kept and we had plenty of room for multiple trailers and tents. The pavilion is a little on the small side but we made it work and it kept us all dry during the early evening rain storm. We were blessed with an amazing rainbow 🌈There was water and the outhouse/bathrooms were clean. Our camp host was kind and helpful.
June 09 · Jill LallissThe site fees are very confusing. I was not sure how much I owed for the campsite. They do offer an online pay option but the sign was behind the fee box and not visible. They need to fix that.
April 12 · Landon ButtarsSad campground. God forbid you have kids or puppies to enjoy the nice field. You'll have this truck flying in to ticket you for anything possible. Over $200 a night to be monitored every 20 minutes. Never again.
June 01 · tyson scott (FrostEnergy)Nice and spacious group campground.
August 05 · Todd SThis is a large group site. Wide open area with covered picnic tables, three fire pits, and two bathrooms. Views are stunning, with lots of visible stars at night. Close to Rockport Reservoir. Camp hosts and park staff were very welcoming and friendly. The vault toilets for this site were the cleanest I've ever seen. Impossibly clean with no smell (what sorcery is this?!).A couple of 'cons:' There are some homes close by, but they didn't impact our stay at all. It's also close to the entrance to Rockport State Park, so there were a fair number of cars passing by, especially during the day. However, the site is so large that you can easily set up camp far from the road itself, so we found it to be a non-issue.Price is higher than an individual site, obviously, but was well worth it for our group. Would recommend!
