Haskin's Group Campsites focuses on providing key amenities that enhance the group camping experience, ensuring comfort and convenience while maintaining the essence of outdoor living. Based on public data and customer reviews, here are the services you can expect:
- Dedicated Group Campsites: The core offering is spacious, designated group campsites. Public information indicates there are 9 group campsites, with capacities ranging from 10 to 65 people and accommodating multiple cars (e.g., Site A: Max 30 people and 10 cars; Site G: Max 65 people and 22 cars). Each site is thoughtfully designed with amenities to cater to larger parties.
- Clean Private Showers: A standout feature, as highlighted by reviews, is the availability of "clean private showers." This is a significant comfort for campers after a day of hiking or activities, offering a level of privacy and cleanliness not always found at campgrounds.
- Flush Toilets: Complementing the showers, the campground provides "flush toilets," a welcome amenity that elevates the camping experience beyond more rustic options like pit toilets or porta-potties. Customer reviews specifically mention "immaculately clean" flush toilets.
- Drinking Water: Access to potable water is crucial for any camping trip, and Haskin's ensures this essential service is readily available on-site, making it easy for campers to stay hydrated and for cooking.
- Picnic Tables: Each group campsite is equipped with multiple picnic tables, providing ample space for communal meals, games, and social gatherings.
- Fire Rings / Grills: Every site includes fire rings and grills, allowing groups to enjoy traditional campfires for warmth, ambiance, and cooking. This is a fundamental element of the camping experience.
- Ample Parking: Designed for groups, the campsites accommodate multiple vehicles (e.g., 10 to 22 cars depending on the site), ensuring sufficient parking for all members of the party.
What makes Haskin's Group Campsites a particularly appealing destination for New Jersey locals lies in its distinct features and the quality of the camping environment it provides:
- Ideal for Group Outings: As its name suggests, the campground is perfectly tailored for groups. The dedicated, large sites ensure privacy and space for everyone, fostering a fantastic environment for bonding and shared experiences, whether it's a family reunion or an organized club event.
- Pristine Facilities: Customer reviews consistently praise the cleanliness of the amenities. Phrases like "immaculately clean" for toilets and "clean private showers" highlight a commitment to maintaining high standards, which significantly enhances the comfort level for campers.
- "Hidden Gem" Status: One reviewer aptly described Haskin's as a "perfect gem of a campground." This suggests a tranquil, perhaps less crowded, experience compared to some larger, more heavily trafficked campgrounds, especially during mid-week stays when the entire campground might be available for a group's exclusive use.
- Abundant Outdoor Activities: Being situated within Stokes State Forest means direct access to a plethora of outdoor activities. This includes extensive hiking trails with varying difficulty levels, opportunities for fishing in nearby lakes and streams (like Lake Ocquittunk or Big Flatbrook), and general exploration of the forest's natural beauty.
- Secluded Yet Accessible: While providing a feeling of being "away from it all," the campground remains conveniently accessible by car. This balance allows groups to truly immerse themselves in nature without enduring overly long or complicated travel.
- Well-Maintained Sites: Beyond the communal facilities, the individual group sites are set up with essential features like multiple picnic tables and fire rings, demonstrating attention to detail for group needs. Some sites are also described as "more private" with "woods on 3 sides," offering enhanced seclusion.
As a state park campground, Haskin's Group Campsites typically operates on a standardized fee structure determined by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, rather than offering frequent, fluctuating promotions. However, the inherent "special offer" for groups lies in the value and convenience of its dedicated group sites and consistent amenities. Here's how Haskin's provides value:
- Consistent State Park Pricing: Fees for state park campsites are generally set and publicly available through the NJ State Park Service website. This transparency and consistency mean campers can reliably budget for their trips without unexpected price surges. While not a "discount," it represents a stable and often more affordable option compared to privately run campgrounds.
- Group-Specific Reservations: The very existence of group-specific campsites is a benefit. It allows groups to reserve a large, appropriate space in advance, avoiding the hassle of trying to secure multiple individual sites that may or may not be adjacent or suitable for a cohesive group experience.
- Cost-Effectiveness for Large Parties: By providing a single, reservable space with shared amenities (showers, toilets, water) designed for many people, Haskin's can often be a very cost-effective solution for large gatherings, as the per-person cost typically becomes very reasonable.
- No Hidden Fees for Basic Amenities: The inclusive nature of amenities like clean showers, flush toilets, and potable water, as praised by visitors, means there are no extra charges for these essential comforts, which can sometimes be an additional cost at other campgrounds.
- Off-Peak Opportunities: While not a formal promotion, visiting during mid-week or off-peak seasons (outside of major holidays or summer weekends) can often lead to a more secluded experience, sometimes with the "entire campground to ourselves," as one reviewer noted. This provides an enhanced sense of privacy and tranquility, essentially offering a premium experience at standard rates.

Clean private showers.Group campsite is fun.
Aug 26, 2024 · charles segarraStumbled on this perfect gem of a campground. Stayed mid-week, and we had the entire campground to ourselves. Hot showers, flush toilets, drinking water, and immaculately clean. Highly recommended.
Jul 31, 2024 · D. BassieNice and large open camp ground for large groups. No shades so bring shades. Our kids love the space to run around. It gets quite windy so tents and stuffs (and maybe small kids) will fly away!Restrooms and showers are nice and clean (I guess depending on the people using them). Was dissappointed that the hot water for the showers was not working by sites E & F, especially the cold weekend.Larger groups nearby can get loud, expecially when they have a generator and electric music instruments. I don't think the park security polices these large sites as they would have heard the loud sounds and noises late that night past 10pm.Firewood is available at the office for a decent price but there are many places around that sells firewoods.
Jun 20, 2022 · Peter Yong (PedroJoven)The past two times I been here, I have to deal with loud crowd's. However the campsite is maintain and clean. It does need updates, and more facilities to really shine.
