Hapgood Pond Campground is situated in the picturesque town of Peru, Vermont, specifically at Peru, VT 05152, USA. Its location within the Green Mountain National Forest, approximately 13 miles east of Manchester, Vermont, makes it highly accessible for residents throughout the state, particularly those in southern Vermont. The drive to the campground is scenic, winding through classic Vermont landscapes that set the stage for your outdoor adventure.

This straightforward navigation ensures that your journey to serenity is as smooth as possible. While the roads are generally well-maintained, it’s always a good idea to be aware of rural road conditions, especially during different seasons. The campground itself offers numerous sites for both tent and RV camping. However, it's worth noting that some sites may have limitations for very large RVs due to the natural setting and design of the campground roads.

As a campground managed by the Green Mountain & Finger Lakes National Forests (part of the USDA Forest Service), Hapgood Pond Campground typically operates on a standard fee basis without frequent promotional discounts common in private commercial campgrounds. However, there are a few important considerations regarding fees and reservations that can help you plan your visit effectively.
Campsites 9-28 are reservable, and it is highly recommended to make reservations in advance, especially during peak summer months, through Recreation.gov. Reservations generally need to be made at least 4 days in advance. Sites 1-8 are available on a first-come, first-served basis, which can be an option during weekdays or off-peak times, but they tend to fill up quickly on weekends. There is typically a day-use fee for the recreation area, which should be paid at the self-serve fee stations.
While direct discounts are rare, staying during weekdays or in the shoulder seasons (late spring/early fall) often provides a more serene experience with fewer crowds, offering a different kind of "value" in terms of peace and quiet. Always check the official Recreation.gov website or contact the Manchester Ranger District directly for the most current information on fees, availability, and any specific operating guidelines.
For reservations and detailed information about Hapgood Pond Campground, it is best to utilize the official channels associated with the Green Mountain National Forest.

Hapgood Pond Campground Reviews
This is a lovely campground with many sites, bathrooms and water spigots. Dog friendly. Fire pits at all sites. Be careful as there is so many mosquitoes that you won’t be able to sit outside even with a fire going.
Jun 06, 2025 · C THad an awesome time camping for a friend's birthday here. The camp host, Shannon, kept the campground in fantastic conditions. It was truly the cleanest campground I’ve been to - from the spotless bathrooms, to the clean campsites, to the lack of goose poop by the pond because she went as far as to clean it up so that guests can have a fun, worry-free time. Truly cannot recommend enough. I hope to be back here to camp!
Aug 19, 2024 · Bekah T.Camped for one night. Really enjoyed the campsite. Nice little pond for swimming that is open to non campers for $5 a car. Nice little 1 mile loop around the pond.
Jul 19, 2024 · Mac McComasGreat little trail around the pond. Well marked and taken care of. Very quiet and peaceful in the winter. Highly recommended.
Jan 05, 2024 · Ron MilkowskiLovely campground. Very quiet and private camping sites that bring you very close to nature. The pond is also swimmable but I chose not to go in but a lot of people looked like they were having a good time cooling off from the hot weather in the water. Very family and dog friendly campsite as well with clean bathrooms and showers.
