For those seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, this is a destination that promises peace, tranquility, and an authentic connection with the great outdoors. Located in the picturesque Rock Island area, Hammock'Sway is more than just a place to park your RV or pitch a tent—it’s an experience designed for nature lovers, adventurers, and anyone who appreciates the simple joy of being surrounded by trees, water, and wildlife. With its focus on providing a quiet and secluded environment, this campground offers a unique opportunity to truly disconnect and recharge. The atmosphere is one of profound calm, where the primary sounds are the rustling of leaves and the gentle flow of a nearby creek. It’s a perfect spot for individuals, couples, and families looking for a private retreat to create lasting memories.
The philosophy behind Hammock'Sway is to provide a minimalist yet deeply satisfying camping experience. Instead of a crowded, amenity-packed resort, you'll find a space that encourages you to slow down and embrace the natural rhythm of the land. The host, Chris, is known for his welcoming nature and helpful approach, ensuring every guest feels at home. Whether you're a seasoned camper or new to the experience, the welcoming environment and stunning surroundings make it easy to settle in and enjoy your stay. The sense of privacy is a major draw, allowing you to feel as if you have the entire forest to yourself. This isn't a place with noisy crowds or loud parties; it's a sanctuary where you can truly appreciate the deep woods and all the wonder they hold. The opportunity to explore the local flora and fauna, hike the nearby trails, or simply sit by the water and read a book makes this an ideal destination for a quiet getaway.
Hammock'Sway is situated at 203 Koomer Ridge in Rock Island, TN 38581, USA. Its location is a key part of its appeal, offering a sense of being "totally in the middle of nowhere," which many campers desire. However, it's worth noting that this remote feel comes with a bit of a drive. The campground is approximately 15 minutes from the closest stores, so planning and bringing your supplies is highly recommended. Despite its seclusion, the access to the property is straightforward, and the on-site parking ensures your vehicle is secure and nearby, though not directly at every campsite. The remoteness is precisely what makes the place so peaceful and special. It’s far enough away to feel like a true escape but close enough to major roads to be a manageable drive for most people in the Tennessee region. This strategic location also places it within a reasonable driving distance of some of the state's most popular natural attractions.
For those who enjoy combining their camping trip with other outdoor adventures, Hammock'Sway’s location is a huge advantage. It's relatively close to several renowned state parks and natural attractions. Fall Creek Falls, a favorite among locals and tourists for its breathtaking waterfalls and extensive hiking trails, is within easy reach. Cumberland Caverns, known for its underground exploration and unique events, is also a short drive away. This makes Hammock'Sway an excellent base camp for exploring the rich geological and scenic diversity of the region. The accessibility to these nearby points of interest means you can have a secluded, peaceful retreat at the end of the day after a day filled with exploration and adventure.

June 09 · Jeff TurnerWe had a great weekend at Hammock'Sway in June! When my boyfriend and I were camping there it was super quiet, calm, and peaceful. We were the only campers he had that weekend, and we took advantage of it and explored the area, especially the river/creek area near our campsite. That being said the campsite is right beside a fairly swiftly moving creek, so the sound of the water lulls you to sleep and the creek is just deep enough to wade in the water a bit. The only downsides to the place are: it's a bit remote, so like 15 minutes from the closest stores which wouldn't have mattered except there isn't a restroom facility, the owner was doing a bit of maintenance during the day, one day that weekend, and you can't drive right up to your campsite (however you can get close and there's a safe place to park your vehicle nearby.) After our initial meeting we only saw the owner while he was doing maintenance, otherwise we didn't even run into him throughout the weekend. We had the whole place to ourselves. So if you want a nice quietsomewhat primitive place with a cool owner and lovely scenery the river camping at Hammock'Sway is definitely for you. I would recommend this place to friends as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Oh also he let us see the campsite before we committed to carrying our stuff down to it, and he would have swapped us from that spot to a different one if we would have wanted to, which we thought was super thoughtful. Another good thing about the place is: it's relatively close to several state parks, Fall Creek Falls nature center, and Cumberland Caverns. We visited Fall Creek Falls and Cumberland Caverns while we were there that weekend.
July 16 · Cassi WilliamsEven with the pouring down rain, my boyfriend and I were able to enjoy the great outdoors and have an amazing adventure! The host is awesome and very friendly. Private and lots of fun. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys the outside! Not to mention the stars were absolutely breath taking and peaceful.
September 10 · FaithMy husband and I spent three nights on Chris's beautiful property, Hammock'Sway. It was easy to find and once we were settled we couldn't get over how peaceful it was out there—absolutely no noise pollution. Chris showed us around the property and let us pick our spot. He has laid out the campsites very thoughtfully, providing lots of privacy from site to site. The creek/river was great for cooling off mid-day. There are some local attractions nearby, but we stayed around our campsite since everything we needed was there. Oh—and the stars came out at night in full force. We had a lovely time, would recommend this place, and will be back again!
June 15 · Spenser DukowitzThis is a wonderful place to stay. Chris is a gracious, welcoming, and helpful host, and I love what he’s doing with the land. This is a primitive campsite which means that you have a beautiful piece of land where you can be alone and enjoy the sounds of nature. It’s a little hard to find, but Chris goes out of his way to help you find your way. I stayed in the Pine Forest site which almost felt like another world. I highly recommend this campground for those who want a weekend away from it all. You won’t find this kind of solitude at a public campground.
