The camp sites are always well kept, amenities have always been maintained when we go. The shower house & laundry are great conviences along with the ice machine for your coolers! We had accidentally locked our keys in the car and both the camp hosts & rangers were incredibly helpful with trying to find someone to unlock us lolWe also had the Harmsen Ranch House reserved and it is beautiful!!I would highly recommend checking this place out for camping, hiking, the views & even getting married!!!
Jul 06, 2018 · Angie HillGolden Gate State Campgrounds was a beautiful place to stay. They had a vending machine, ice machine, washer & dryers, showers and running water. Despite all the great amenities, the staff at the information center on September 6 were very rude to myself and my wife. We had not previously stayed at this campground and were unaware we had to book online prior to coming. Despite the information center having internet and the staff having reception (AT&T), they proceeded to tell us they were unwilling to help us and that we could drive 15 to 20 minutes down these windy roads to get reception for us to book.
Sep 26, 2021 · Matt BauerGolden Gate Canyon SP is a great state park.Getting a campsite is difficult because of how busy it is, being so close to the frontrange. But if you can get a site, it is worth it.One negative is how the tent pads are created. Essentially they are raised beds with railroad ties. That is ok. Except that they didn't think to create them to allow for drainage of the pads in the event of monsoonal rains. That oversight then creates a little bath tub in heavy rains. The campgrounds are well laid out and maintained. The main campground has showers and laundry if needed. The primitive campgrounds do not (We've stayed at a primitive campgrounds in the past). The primitive campgrounds are also laid out well. The hikes are gorgeous. GGCSP is a beautiful state park and well worth a visit.
Jul 02, 2021 · John Hetland IIHiking trails are well marked and have a range of options from casual stroll to challenging.Back country camping has Bear boxes for each site, and well marked areas for tents so there is minimal impact upon the environment.Bring water or filters for the running water.Reservations are needed. Check with rangers/ office so they will know where you are parked and your plan.
