Nestled in the heart of Oregon's historic gold mining country, this RV park provides a distinct camping experience that prioritizes friendly service and convenient access to local attractions. It’s a place where you can immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Eastern Oregon while stepping back in time to explore the fascinating legacy of the gold rush, all within our beloved home state.
Gold Rush RV Park isn't your typical amenity-packed resort. Instead, it embraces a more rustic and authentic approach to camping, focusing on spacious sites and a genuine connection with its surroundings. This makes it particularly appealing to Oregonians who appreciate a simpler, more direct experience with nature and history. The owners are known for their exceptional hospitality, creating a welcoming atmosphere that makes every guest feel at home. Whether you're visiting for a major local event, seeking a quiet fishing spot, or ready to delve into the area's storied past, Gold Rush RV Park serves as an excellent starting point for unforgettable memories right here in Oregon.
Gold Rush RV Park is conveniently located at 810 NW New St, Sumpter, OR 97877, USA. This address places it squarely within the historic town of Sumpter, allowing campers easy walking access to the city center and its unique attractions. For Oregon locals, Sumpter is situated in Baker County, within the scenic Elkhorn Mountains, roughly 30 miles southwest of Baker City via Highway 7. The drive itself is part of the experience, winding through beautiful Eastern Oregon landscapes.
While the park is "within the City Limits," it still offers a sense of being surrounded by nature. Its accessibility directly from a paved road (NW New St) makes it easy to reach for both RVs and vehicles towing camp trailers. Being a short walk from the center of Sumpter means campers can easily access local shops, eateries, and historical sites without needing to drive. However, it's worth noting that due to its location, there can be some road noise, as mentioned by past visitors. Despite this, its convenience to both town and natural recreation spots like Phillips Reservoir (about 15 minutes away) makes it a practical and appealing choice for Oregonians looking to explore this historic region.

Gold Rush RV Park Reviews
We visited for the 2017 eclipse and had a great time. The owners are so nice and their kids had a great time playing with mine. Plenty of clean port-a-potties, even during the crowded eclipse weekend. No showers, pool, or other amenities. The sites are primitive, but we had electricity at ours. Only downside was the road noise.
Oct 22, 2017 · Jamie CoupaudOwners are super nice and worked with us. Cleared snow so we had somewhere to stay for a yearly run.
Apr 08, 2025 · Snow StomperVery clean and welcoming. Great bathrooms and laundry room. Across from quiet residences so had a shy, friendly lab come through in the AM while we were having breakfasts. Made a new friend.
Jul 11, 2021 · Sally BrennandThis place was awesome last time I went there. Even found some gold while I was there. Very clean bathrooms with plenty of hot water. The lady that owns is married to one of the park rangers there.
Jul 02, 2022 · Trevor HamletNice facilities and near fun activities for those of us who enjoy quading.
