Gleatherland Ranch / Campground Introduce
For Texans and visitors looking to immerse themselves in the rugged beauty and unique culture of West Texas, Gleatherland Ranch / Campground offers a welcoming and well-equipped base for your adventures. Located near the world-renowned Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site, this destination provides a variety of lodging options—from classic tent camping and RV spots to comfortable glamping yurts and vacation homes—all set against the stunning backdrop of the desert mountains and expansive, star-filled skies.
The Ranch is a family-owned operation that grew out of a love for the local climbing community and the remarkable West Texas landscape. It is designed to be a quiet retreat where travelers, climbers, and nature lovers can slow down and connect with the natural environment. While it offers a peaceful, remote desert experience, it ensures guests have essential amenities and is celebrated for its friendly, accommodating atmosphere.
Visitors frequently praise the clean facilities and the convenience of being so close to a major climbing and hiking area. Reviews from past guests highlight the beautiful sunrises, great star viewing at night, and the comfort of the accommodations, with some sites offering luxurious amenities like private bathrooms and full kitchens. It's truly a unique spot that bridges rustic charm with modern-day necessities.

Gleatherland Ranch is ideally situated for exploring the natural wonders of the region. The campground is located at 7132 Delia Ave, El Paso, TX 79938, USA, and is just a short drive from the entrance to Hueco Tanks State Park. This proximity makes it the perfect, convenient launching point for a day of rock climbing, hiking, birding, or touring the ancient rock art that the park is famous for.
While the setting is wonderfully remote, providing low light pollution for spectacular stargazing, it remains easily accessible. It is approximately 20 to 30 minutes from the eastern edge of El Paso, meaning that while you're deep in the desert tranquility, the conveniences of a major city are still within reach for supplies or a day trip. The location is also within easy driving distance of other major regional attractions, making it a great hub for longer road trips across the Southwest, including:
- Guadalupe Mountains National Park
- Carlsbad Caverns National Park
- White Sands National Monument
Note that while the official address is listed, specific directions are provided by the owners, as GPS devices can sometimes advise routes that are inaccurate for the rural area. Guests are encouraged to consult the property's directions for the easiest arrival.

Gleatherland Ranch offers a comprehensive array of services and accommodation types to suit nearly every kind of traveler, from the minimalist tent camper to those seeking a full vacation home experience. The accommodation types are structured as follows, with the campground and glamping generally open September through May:

- RV Camping: Spacious RV sites are available with various hookup levels, including:
- RV electric hookup (20 amp service)
- RV water hookup (potable water, often trucked in for the valley)
- RV sewer hookup (or gray water access/RV Dump station on-site)
- Glamping Rentals: For a comfortable 'glamorous camping' experience, the Ranch offers unique units such as insulated yurts and retro campers, some of which feature full kitchens and private, in-unit bathrooms.
- Vacation Rental Homes: Fully equipped, sustainable homes (like Adobe or Straw-bale suites) are available for rent year-round, offering the best insulation and consistent amenities, including filtered drinking water and better Wi-Fi for remote work.

What sets Gleatherland Ranch apart is not just the beautiful location but the careful combination of amenities and community-focused ethos. This includes a commitment to inclusivity and providing essential comforts in a remote setting:
- Exceptional Proximity to Hueco Tanks: Just minutes (approximately 2.5 miles) from the park entrance, making it the most convenient off-site lodging option.
- Inclusivity: The Ranch is notably LGBTQ+ friendly and designated as a Transgender safespace, welcoming all guests to feel comfortable and at home.
- Clean, Shared Facilities: Amenities include well-maintained restrooms and a public shower house (coin-operated, on-demand hot water) for campers and those in non-ensuite units. A porta potty is also available on the property.
- Essential Utilities: Wi-Fi is available across the property, though the signal can vary based on location due to the rural setting; house rentals generally have the strongest connection. Electricity hookups are available for RVs and all rental units.
- Pet-Friendly Policy: Dogs are allowed on the property, though owners must maintain control, clean up after their pets, and a pet fee applies for rental units.
- On-Site Parking: Ample on-site parking is provided for guests and their vehicles.
- Community Amenities: A central communal fire-pit is available for guests to gather, socialize, and enjoy the evenings (note: fire restrictions apply, especially when it is windy). A communal area called "The Barn" offers a lounge area, tables, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
- Good for Kids: The environment is suitable for children, offering open space and a safe place to play and explore the desert surroundings.
- Payment Options: The campground accepts payments via Debit cards, and cash is also accepted for primitive camping fees.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The campground is really nice, lots of options. Right now in mid March, it’s pretty empty, but I can imagine the spots filling up durian high climbing season. They have a porta potty and a room with a shower and faucet. The climbing shop is on the property as well. Only thing is, it can get horribly windy here, as it is right now and it makes being outside a bad experience.. so come here when there’s no wind!
March 17 · Lala & Eric GomezGreat place to stay close to Hueco Tanks State Park and about 30 minutes from the conveniences of El Paso. Yurt 2 came equipped with a bathroom. Beautiful sunrises right out the front door and great star viewing at night.
March 22 · Dwayne FureyThis is a fantastic campground. Great view of Hueco Tanks. Five bucks a night for a primitive site big enough for a van or small camper. Free wifi that actually works. Clean washrooms and a warm pay shower with good water pressure.
April 01 · Kim SimonsQuiet desert camping in close proximity to the world class bouldering of Hueco Tanks. Friendly family ownership makes you feel welcome and warm. Coyotes will often serenade under a star laden sky at night just prior to experiencing a deep and blissful desert solitaire slumber!
February 27 · Chuck OdetteVisited in the off season so I can't speak to a lot of the amenities but what we could access was good. Very reasonably priced at $5 per person per night with flat, clean sites and almost no one else there. Fire pit was great, kept the winds out well enough and had some old pallets to burn. Only downside was dogs barking at night, but we couldn't tell if they were wild dogs or kept at one of the few RVs in the lot. Proximity to Hueco Tanks was great, only a few minutes drive each morning
