Ga Mountain Campground Reviews
The only reason area 1 of this campground gets even one star is because of the views.. if you have a lakeside site and you don't look to either side, just straight out at the lake. There are no signs on the sites, only numbers on the power pedestal. They're poorly maintained. I had to get out of the truck to verify what i was looking at was indeed a site. They didn't even try to make the sites level. I maxed out my levelers and it was still leaning a little. The water was 50' away, and the 30A breaker kept tripping. It even caused my a/c breaker to trip. Fortunately I had a dog bone to move over to the 50A. The picnic table was so wobbley that I was afraid to use it. There is no fire ring, although past campers put a ring of rocks together. The noise from the highway was so bad my wife and I couldn't have a conversation outside. Many of the sites were too small for the campers that were on them forcing the occupant to park in the "street" which is only one car wide, so i had to drive the another site to get around. I don't think we'll be staying here again unless we can get into area 2. I'm not too sure about that one either.
Jun 10, 2025 · Mike NewtonGreat place to stay. Excellent views of the lake. Easy entry for kayak lovers on lake side sites, especially sites 30, 31, 35, 37, and 39. We stayed at 45, which can be a bit more work to get your yak to the water due to the slope, but still had a great time. Restrooms are a bit dated, but somewhat upgraded as well as clean and supplied.
Sep 24, 2022 · Derek WestAn amazing view! had a camp site right on the lakeNo sewage, no internet, the water hookup was 75ft away, the site was difficult to get to and then back into with very little room, it wasn't level at all, had to dig holes in the dirt to park the tires in on 1 side.
Sep 15, 2023 · Jesse BarlowBeautiful campground, our spot wasn't as nice as along the water, but it was so peaceful!
Jun 20, 2025 · Tim DuncanReally fun, beautiful place to camp. Close to everything in Hiawassee. It would be nice if some work was done on the camp sites themselves. The ground is very uneven and sloped on most sites, and it seems that the gravel had been mostly washed away. Our fire pit was on a slope/angle, so we couldn’t really sit around it. Also, the bathrooms are in need of renovation..
