Stayed here with my family in April- off season, so that may effect our experience. The staff was kind and helpful and most of the seasonal campers were friendly. We did have an incident with one man who was hanging out behind our camper late night which made me uncomfortable. The campground says its family friendly but I found the amenities for kids lacking. The "kids rec room" had two video games and some TVs. The indoor pool was great, and the outdoor pools looked really nice. The playground closest to us looked brand new and was beautiful, but was definitely geared towards younger kids. The second playground was better for older kids, but didn't have much. I'm sure there are more activities available during the actual camping season.Bathrooms were relatively clean, but smelled strange. The store had a lot of stuff but most of it looked out of date. Also of note, there are no sewer hookups for short term stays but they do offer pump out services for $15.It rained a lot while we were there, there isn't much for kids in the area so we did travel to Manchester to go to the See Science museum, which wasn't far away and was a good option for rainy day kids activities. - Jennifer Walker

Praised by generations of campers, many of whom have been coming since childhood, this campground is a true New Hampshire gem. It distinguishes itself by being one of the few campgrounds in the region that welcomes guests throughout all four seasons, including opportunities for winter activities like snowmobiling right from the grounds.

Friendly Beaver Campground strives to be a family-friendly destination, with a variety of amenities designed to keep all ages entertained. While some specific features might vary in their appeal or level of modernization, the overall commitment to providing a engaging environment is clear. The campground boasts an impressive array of swimming options with multiple outdoor pools and a heated indoor pool, ensuring swimming fun regardless of the weather. As one recent visitor noted, the "indoor pool was great, and the outdoor pools looked really nice." For children, there are multiple playgrounds, and during peak season, a packed schedule of activities and themed weekends promises non-stop entertainment.

Beyond the amenities, the spirit of Friendly Beaver Campground is often highlighted by its welcoming seasonal campers and helpful staff. While some aspects of the facilities, like the bathrooms or laundry, might show their age, the core appeal lies in the sense of community and the sheer volume of activities available, especially during the main camping season. This article will explore the many facets that make Friendly Beaver Campground a suitable and beloved choice for New Hampshire locals seeking a memorable and active outdoor experience, whether for a quick weekend getaway or a full seasonal retreat.

Location and Accessibility

Friendly Beaver Campground is conveniently located at 88 Cochran Hill Rd, New Boston, NH 03070, USA. This address places it in the charming and largely rural town of New Boston, situated in Hillsborough County, Southern New Hampshire. The location offers a peaceful countryside setting while remaining accessible to various New Hampshire attractions and amenities.

New Boston is known for its picturesque landscapes, covered bridges, and a slower pace of life, providing an ideal backdrop for a relaxing camping experience. The campground's specific address on Cochran Hill Road suggests a tranquil location, away from the immediate bustle of main roads, yet still easily found.

Accessibility to Friendly Beaver Campground is generally straightforward for New Hampshire residents. New Boston is well-connected via state routes such as Route 13 and Route 77, which link to larger highways like I-93 or I-293. This ensures a manageable drive from major cities like Manchester, Nashua, or Concord, making it a convenient weekend escape or a suitable base for longer stays without extensive travel. From Manchester, for instance, the drive is relatively short, as highlighted by a camper who visited the See Science Museum there, noting it "wasn't far away and was a good option for rainy day kids activities."

The regional accessibility also extends to various nearby attractions. While the immediate area of New Boston offers a quiet charm, the proximity to larger towns means campers can easily access diverse dining, shopping, and entertainment options. Furthermore, for outdoor enthusiasts, New Hampshire's extensive network of hiking trails and winter recreational areas (including ski hills like Crotched Mountain or Pat's Peak Ski Area, which are about a 35-minute drive away) are within reasonable reach, making Friendly Beaver a versatile hub for year-round exploration of the Granite State. The fact that you can "snowmobile in the winter" directly from the campground speaks to its fantastic accessibility for specific seasonal activities.

Promotions or Special Offers

Friendly Beaver Campground primarily structures its "promotions or special offers" around its flexible booking options, year-round availability, and comprehensive inclusion of amenities within its rates. While specific, flash discounts aren't typically highlighted in general descriptions, here are the inherent values and potential offers for New Hampshire locals:

  • Year-Round Availability: The significant "offer" of Friendly Beaver is its status as one of the few campgrounds in New Hampshire "open year-round." This allows for unique camping experiences during off-peak seasons (fall, winter, early spring) when other campgrounds are closed. These periods often come with a more tranquil atmosphere and potential for different rate structures, although specific rates for winter camping should be confirmed.
  • Seasonal Site Opportunities: For New Hampshire locals looking for a consistent vacation spot, "seasonal sites" are available. While these involve a long-term commitment, they often represent a significant cost saving over booking individual weekends throughout the year and provide a sense of belonging to the campground community.
  • Pump-Out Service for Short-Term Stays: For transient campers whose sites might not have full sewer hookups, the availability of "pump out services for $15" is a convenient "offer" that mitigates the lack of direct sewer connections, ensuring comfort during their stay.
  • Inclusive Amenities: The standard rates for camping typically include access to a wide array of amenities. This means no extra charge for enjoying the "heated indoor pool," outdoor pools, playgrounds, recreation halls, and participation in the "activities every weekend" and "themed weekends," representing significant value.
  • "Off-Season" Experience: As noted by a reviewer who stayed in April (off-season), while some amenities might not be fully active, the reduced crowds and potentially lower demand can lead to a more peaceful experience. This can be an "offer" for those who prioritize tranquility over a full roster of activities.
  • Military Discount: (Based on external data) Friendly Beaver Campground reportedly offers a military discount, which is a specific "promotion" for eligible service members and their families.
