Choosing a campground is a personal decision, and Four Star Campground presents a particular kind of experience that will appeal to specific campers. What makes it a compelling choice is its established, long-term community feel, which sets it apart from more transient camping spots. For those who are new to camping or who want a place that feels less like a hotel and more like a neighborhood, this atmosphere can be a significant draw. The fact that the campground is family-owned and operated adds a personal touch that can be hard to find at larger, corporate-run parks. The owner and family are often cited in public reviews as being "super nice" and helpful, which speaks to a level of customer service that makes visitors feel at home.
The provided amenities, while sometimes noted as needing care in public reviews, offer a solid foundation for a fun trip. The playground and swimming pool are excellent for families, providing built-in entertainment for children. For adults, the stocked fishing lake and game room offer relaxing ways to pass the time. The pet-friendly policy is another huge plus for Illinois residents who don't want to leave their dogs behind. While some public reviews have raised concerns about management communication regarding pricing and the general condition of some facilities, it's important to note that the positive feedback often revolves around the sense of community and the friendly people. The campground's proximity to attractions like Illini State Park is also a bonus for those who want to explore more of the local area. For a camper who values a sense of community, a relaxed setting, and a place with a distinct, non-resort feel, Four Star Campground offers a genuine and memorable local experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Bait and switch. I called the day before arrival and was told it was a Good Sam campground at $40 per night. When I arrived, I was told that the person I spoke with had Alzheimers and that the price was $50. Whether the Alzheimers story was true (and I hope not), they should have honored the quoted price. We moved on to Illini State Park.
June 24 · G elmoreIt was absolutely disgusting, unsanitary, broken, and traumatizing. my brother got head butted by a random goat when going to the bathroom. Bathrooms were filthy. Shady place def not safe. My little sister got offered candy by a person as i slept while she was in the tent. Filled with bums. Will never go agian. Do not go.
March 29 · Lael DavisRV park long term options. Friendly folks ... pet's allowed...dog park. good fishing in Beaver lake.
July 15 · Theresa Renee FinleyWell it's sad to say I loved my lot. We paid $800 we were there for a week so they made $600 off of us I was told that we were told when we came in no refunds we wasn't told that so make sure if you're going by the way if you don't know how long you're going to be there pay by the week. but you know what it's okay because that's the way of the world nowadays it's a scam everywhere you go it's a rip-off everywhere you go and If they can live with their self. So my mama used to say if they can live with it I can live without it would I recommend it no would I ever go back no.
November 05 · Carolyn RalphI have been a resident for 5 years. I have a beautiful lot (40) with plenty of room for my dog Snoop. The management could not be any better or more helpful. With fishing, camping, and holiday celebrations, like 4th of July and Halloween make this place very special. Bad wishers need a hotel.
