Fort Limhi RV Park

2407 Main St, Salmon, ID 83467, USA

3.0
Interesting campground. Currently full. Rates are $25/night or $350/monthly. Dump station $5, on honor system. No office on site. Call the number on the sign, I was told by a lady in the place that looks like it should be the campground office, which in fact is a beauty shop. The place has a sense of 'permanents', meaning that a lot of the campers appear to have been there for a while, as evidenced by external propane tanks, etc.Overall not a bad looking place. Close to town, and there is a nice city park directly behind the campground. I would rate this place higher than the other two RV parks in town. - Kenneth Davis

Fort Limhi RV Park is conveniently situated at 2407 Main St, Salmon, ID 83467, USA. This prime location places it "close to town," which is a significant advantage for RVers who value easy access to local services, shops, and dining options. Unlike more remote campgrounds, Fort Limhi allows residents to quickly reach grocery stores, restaurants, and other essential facilities in Salmon, making errands and restocking simple. Its address on Main Street suggests direct accessibility, likely along a primary route, which simplifies arrival and departure, particularly for larger rigs. A standout geographical feature is the presence of a "nice city park directly behind the campground." This provides immediate access to green space, walking paths, and recreational amenities without needing to drive. This proximity to a public park greatly enhances the convenience and appeal of the location, offering a natural extension of the campground's living space. For Idahoans, this combination of in-town convenience and park access makes Fort Limhi RV Park a practical and appealing choice for their travels.

Services Offered

  • RV Hookups: Fort Limhi RV Park provides full RV hookups, which typically include electrical, water, and sewer connections. This is a crucial service for RV travelers seeking comfortable and self-sufficient stays. While some sites may have hookups on "the wrong side" requiring longer hoses and cables, the availability of these essential services ensures a fully functional RV experience.

  • Flexible Rates: The campground offers competitive rates, noted as $25 per night or $350 per month. This flexibility caters to both short-term visitors passing through and those looking for more extended stays, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious RVers.

  • Dump Station: A dump station is available for a fee of $5, operating on an honor system. This service is essential for RV maintenance and convenience, allowing campers to empty their waste tanks on-site.

  • Proximity to City Amenities: While not a direct service of the park, its location "close to town" means campers have easy access to various amenities in Salmon, including a swimming pool, golf course, softball field, basketball court, and volleyball courts, which are often part of the adjacent city park. Local services like mechanics, radio shack, art framing, pizza, and video rentals are also cited as being nearby.

  • On-Site Beauty Shop: Uniquely, the park has a "beauty shop" on its premises (identified by a reviewer as appearing like it should be the office). While not a typical campground service, it adds an unusual convenience for guests.

Features / Highlights

  • Exceptional Affordability: One of the most significant highlights of Fort Limhi RV Park is its cost-effectiveness. With daily rates at $25 and monthly rates at $350, it offers a very budget-friendly option for RV camping in Salmon, especially when compared to other RV parks in the area. This makes it a great choice for both short visits and longer stays for those watching their expenses.

  • Prime Town Location with Park Access: The park's location directly within Salmon, combined with immediate access to a "nice city park directly behind the campground," is a major advantage. This means campers are steps away from green spaces, playgrounds, and potential recreational facilities within the city park (like a swimming pool, golf course, basketball court, volleyball, and softball field), offering activities without needing to drive. This urban convenience alongside natural leisure is highly desirable.

  • Sense of Community: Reviews indicate a notable "sense of 'permanents'," with many campers appearing to be long-term residents. This often fosters a unique community atmosphere, where fellow campers may be more settled and potentially more willing to offer local insights or assistance, creating a welcoming and stable environment for new arrivals.

  • Functional, No-Frills Approach: While some aspects like parking size and hookup placement might present minor challenges for larger rigs, the park's overall functionality and focus on providing essential services at an affordable price are strong points. It's a practical choice for those who prioritize value and convenience over luxury amenities.

  • Higher Rating Among Local Options: One reviewer explicitly stated, "I would rate this place higher than the other two RV parks in town." This direct comparison suggests that despite its unique characteristics, Fort Limhi RV Park offers a compelling value proposition and a generally positive experience relative to other choices in Salmon.

  • Accessible Management (by Phone): Although there's "no office on site," the explicit instruction to "Call the number on the sign" and the readily available phone numbers (+1 208-303-7486) indicate that management is accessible and responsive to inquiries, ensuring that guests can get assistance when needed.
