Location and Accessibility

The location of Floating Battery Island Campground #1 at 11 Floating Battery Is, Bolton Landing, NY 12814, USA, is a defining feature that dictates its unique accessibility. As an island campsite on Lake George, it is strictly boat-access only. This means you'll need your own powerboat, be prepared for a substantial paddle (around 3 miles/1 hour from mainland parking, according to one review), or arrange for a water taxi service from a local marina in Bolton Landing or a nearby town. While this adds a layer of adventure and planning, it also guarantees a level of seclusion and tranquility that is hard to find at mainland campgrounds. The island is part of the "Narrows" group of islands, approximately 7 miles north of Bolton Landing. This area is known for being particularly quiet and private. For New Yorkers, the journey to Lake George itself is a scenic drive into the Adirondack Park, and once you've launched your boat, the short trip to your island paradise sets the tone for a truly memorable, off-the-grid experience. Civilized amenities like ice are only a 30-minute boat ride away in either direction, offering a balance between remote tranquility and basic convenience.

Promotions or Special Offers

Due to its nature as a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) campground, Floating Battery Island Campground #1, like other Lake George Islands Campgrounds, typically operates on a fixed fee structure rather than offering frequent promotional discounts. Reservations are highly sought after, particularly during peak summer months, and are usually booked far in advance. Therefore, the primary "offer" is the opportunity to secure a coveted spot on these unique islands. However, for New Yorkers looking for value, consider these aspects:

  • Off-Peak Season Bookings: While less likely to have explicit "promotions," booking during the shoulder seasons (late spring/early summer or early fall) can sometimes mean slightly reduced demand and a more tranquil experience, though prices generally remain consistent.
  • Advance Booking: The best "strategy" to secure a spot is to book well in advance, often as soon as the reservation window opens (typically 9 months out for NYSDEC campgrounds via ReserveAmerica), as popular sites fill up quickly. There's no discount for early booking, but it's the only way to guarantee your preferred dates.
  • Longer Stays (if allowed): While not a discount, planning a longer stay within the 14-night maximum (or 14 cumulative nights from July 1st to Labor Day) maximizes your time on the island once you've gone through the effort of packing and boating in.

There are generally no specific "promotions" like discounted rates or packages at state campgrounds. The value comes from the pristine natural setting and the unique island experience. Always check the official NYSDEC website or ReserveAmerica for the most accurate and up-to-date information on fees and availability.
