The review is more about the integrity of how this company is run vs the campground itself. We have a self contained RV and just needed a boondocking site for one night. Despite it being closed, the company offered to let us pay for one night without hookups. We paid ahead, but a miscommunication led us to miss the campground, and we found an alternative boondock site in the Borough of Ohiopyle. The company refunded our money. Look forward to another visit and maybe white water rafting in the future. The Borough and the area were charming!! - Piper Gilbert

Farmington, a community in Fayette County, offers a serene countryside setting, yet remains highly accessible to major attractions.

A significant draw of Five Pines is its proximity to the Ohiopyle area. The campground is just "minutes to half hour from all sites in Ohiopyle area." This makes it an exceptionally convenient base for engaging in popular activities like whitewater rafting on the Youghiogheny River, exploring the extensive Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) Trail for biking and walking, and hiking within Ohiopyle State Park. The location ensures that campers can maximize their time enjoying the outdoors rather than spending it on long commutes.

While a previous review noted a website discrepancy regarding the address, it has since been clarified as 393 Workman Rd. The setting is described as "beautiful countryside," with a "small lake as you enter," suggesting a picturesque entrance to your camping experience. This blend of natural beauty and strategic proximity to adventure hubs makes Five Pines Camping & Rec a highly desirable location for Pennsylvanians seeking an active outdoor vacation.

Five Pines Camping & Rec is actively working to enhance its services, aiming to provide a comprehensive camping experience for various types of visitors. While some improvements are ongoing, the commitment to providing key amenities is evident.

  • RV Sites with Full Hookups: The campground offers RV sites that include full hookups for electric, water, and sewage. These are often pull-through sites, designed for convenience, especially for larger rigs. Specific site dimensions are noted (e.g., 12' x 56', 12' x 64'), accommodating various RV sizes.

  • Tent Camping: Traditional tent camping options are available, allowing for a classic outdoor experience.

  • Cabin Rentals: Cabins are being introduced to the campground, offering an alternative lodging option for those who prefer more comfort than a tent, potentially with private facilities.

  • On-Site Security: The presence of "on-site security" provides peace of mind for campers, enhancing the safety and tranquility of the grounds.

  • Potable Water: While not explicitly stated for all sites, the mention of full hookups implies access to potable water for RV sites. For tent campers, water access points would typically be available.

  • Support for Whitewater Rafting: The campground has direct ties or partnerships with whitewater rafting companies in the Ohiopyle area, making it easy to book and organize rafting excursions. One review even noted the owner/maintenance being "apologetic for Rafting companies error in booking," suggesting a hands-on approach to customer service related to these adventures.

  • Beautiful Scenery: The "beautiful countryside" and "small lake" enhance the aesthetic appeal of the campground, providing a pleasant backdrop for relaxation.

  • Good Foundation for Growth: Despite current repairs, the consensus is that the campground "has a good foundation" and "can be as described" (referring to its potential). This forward-looking perspective is a strong highlight.

Given that Five Pines Camping & Rec is currently undergoing significant improvements and operating under new ownership, specific, regularly advertised "promotions" in the traditional sense might be less frequent as they focus on development. However, the very nature of their current phase could be seen as a promotional opportunity for early visitors.

  • Potential for Future Loyalty Programs: As a developing campground, there's potential for future loyalty programs or discounts for returning customers, especially those who visit during the improvement phase and provide feedback. One review even mentions, "Would love to visit again for a comped week to be able to raise your rating to 5," indicating a desire for such incentives.

  • Competitive Pricing During Transition: It's possible that current pricing might be competitive or introductory as they work to fully establish all amenities. Direct inquiry is recommended to understand current rates.
