Ferron Reservoir Campground

Campground ★4.0

Manti LaSal National Forest, Forest Rd 2064, UT, USA

4.0
I recently visited Ferron Reservoir Campground for a Young Men’s camping trip, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience. The group site we stayed at was spacious and comfortable, perfect for gathering around the fire and enjoying the great outdoors. The reservoir itself was a highlight—it gave us plenty of opportunities to play, paddle board, and kayak. The water was definitely cold ❄️, but after a few seconds, it became refreshing and energizing. We even managed to catch a pretty decent-sized fish, which added to the adventure. The surrounding scenery is absolutely stunning. The sunsets over the water and hills were breathtaking and added the perfect ending to each day. 🌅We didn’t see the camp hosts during our stay—maybe we just missed them—but they were clearly keeping things in check. One of the restrooms near our site ran out of toilet paper, but it was restocked later that same day, which we appreciated.Cell service is very limited, but in a good way. You can find a few sweet spots that get one or two bars, which is just enough to stay connected if needed—without getting sucked into endless scrolling. It let us stay present and enjoy the calm of nature. It’s also super dog-friendly. Our dog had a blast splashing around in the river, hanging out by the fire, and making friends with the neighbor pups. 🐕The drive took me about 3.5 hours, but honestly, it was well worth it. The peace, fun, and memories made this trip something I’ll carry with me for a long time. - Ryan Lamb

Ferron Reservoir Campground Introduce

Introduction / Overview

For those living in or visiting Utah, seeking a genuine escape into nature often leads to the high-elevation splendor of the Manti LaSal National Forest. Tucked away within this magnificent landscape is Ferron Reservoir Campground, a destination that promises both tranquil relaxation and exhilarating adventure. Located at a breathtaking altitude, this campground is a perfect retreat for families, friends, and solo travelers alike, offering a classic camping experience surrounded by some of the state's most stunning scenery. It's a place where the air is crisp, the views are expansive, and the everyday stresses of life seem to melt away with the setting sun.

Known for its peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty, Ferron Reservoir Campground is more than just a place to pitch a tent—it's a gateway to an authentic outdoor experience. From the shimmering waters of the reservoir to the lush, wildflower-dotted landscapes, every corner of this site invites exploration and appreciation. The campground is well-regarded for its spacious group sites and individual tent sites, providing a comfortable base camp for your high-country adventures. Whether you're looking to cast a line, paddle on the clear waters, or simply sit by a campfire under a canopy of stars, Ferron Reservoir delivers a memorable trip that feels both wild and accessible.

Location and Accessibility

Ferron Reservoir Campground is situated in a picturesque and secluded part of the Manti LaSal National Forest. Its address is Manti LaSal National Forest, Forest Rd 2064, UT, USA. While the drive is part of the adventure, it's essential to plan your route carefully. User feedback highlights that GPS applications like Google Maps may suggest a less-than-ideal route involving a high mountain pass with steep drop-offs and damaged roads. A more reliable and safer alternative is to travel through the town of Ferron and then follow Ferron Canyon, passing Millsite State Park and Willow Lake. This route includes approximately 22 miles of a dirt road, which, while it can be a bit bumpy and washboard-like in sections, is generally a decent road that is well worth the journey for the reward at the end.

The drive from more populated areas of Utah, such as the Wasatch Front, can take around 3.5 hours, making it a perfect weekend getaway. Despite its secluded nature, the accessibility from the town of Ferron makes it a reachable destination for most vehicles, though drivers should be prepared for unpaved roads. This remoteness is a key part of the campground's appeal, as it helps preserve the tranquil environment and ensures a more authentic outdoor experience, far from the hustle and bustle of city life. The payoff for the scenic journey is an unparalleled sense of peace and a connection to the raw beauty of the Utah mountains.
