The staff are consistently praised for their helpfulness and attentiveness, even going so far as to provide extreme weather notifications to ensure the safety of their patrons. This level of care truly makes you feel looked after.
Beyond the immediate comforts of your campsite, the park offers a fantastic base for enjoying a variety of outdoor activities. The fishing opportunities on Lake Tholocco are spectacular, making it a dream destination for anglers. Families will appreciate the safe and friendly environment, perfect for children to explore and play. For Alabamians, this campground is more than just a place to park an RV; it’s a convenient, well-equipped, and peaceful sanctuary that’s right in our backyard. It provides a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the Wiregrass region without having to travel far, making it an ideal choice for regular escapes or longer retreats into the heart of Alabama's outdoor charm.
Engineer Beach RV Park is conveniently located on an Unnamed Road in Ozark, AL 36360, USA. This places it on the northwestern perimeter of Fort Novosel (formerly Fort Rucker), situated directly on the beautiful 640-acre Lake Tholocco. While being part of a military installation, the park is generally described as being "away from the main post," contributing to a quieter and more secluded atmosphere than one might anticipate.
Access to the park is generally straightforward, and check-in without reservations has been noted as quick and easy. Visitors should be aware that because it is on a military base, specific entry procedures or requirements for civilian guests may apply, such as needing sponsorship from an authorized patron or a temporary pass. It's always advisable to verify entry requirements with the park directly prior to arrival to ensure a smooth check-in process.
Despite the slight consideration for being on a base, the location offers significant benefits. The proximity to Lake Tholocco provides immediate access to a wide range of water-based activities. Furthermore, the park's setting means less traffic noise compared to campgrounds closer to major highways, creating a more peaceful environment. Ozark and the surrounding areas offer local amenities, shops, and restaurants, ensuring that campers have access to necessities and dining options within a reasonable drive.
While helicopter activity from the nearby military operations is to be expected, many guests find that this does not significantly detract from the overall tranquility of the park. The ease of access from major routes in Alabama, combined with its lakeside setting, makes Engineer Beach RV Park an attractive and convenient destination for locals seeking a relaxing getaway within their home state.

Engineer Beach RV Park Reviews
Great little RV site with full hookups and concrete pads. Most sites are nestled in the trees pit of the heat which is a huge plus. The people are super friendly that sign you in. Everyone around the area is quiet and the fishing is spectacular and a great place for families. 10/10 would recommend
Jun 26, 2024 · adam murphyStayed here Jan 2020This park is away from the main post, so it is generally quieter overall with less traffic than I expected. Helicopters do fly directly overhead, so keep that in mind.Check-in without reservations was quick and easy. Kayce recommended a site for my trailer and her suggestion was great. Additionally, I received a text notification during extreme weather with instructions on where to shelter if the base warning sounded. No other park I've stayed in has done that. Great job to the staff for looking out for patrons. As others have stated, the hook-ups here are water and power only, no sewer or cable. My site was level and consisted of a concrete pad with asphalt drive, picnic table, fire ring, and lantern post. My nearest neighbor was approximately 40 feet away, so I was definitely not cramped for space.Overall I had a great stay with one notable exception: Barking dogs. That may not bother some, but I found it difficult to tune it out when it was otherwise quiet and peaceful. I found it annoying to get barked at while sitting outside while owners walked them and did nothing to keep them quiet. There seemed to be some truly inconsiderate pet owners who are there long-term.
Jan 20, 2020 · Cliff WallsReally nice place. The yurt was a fun stay. Can be really hot in there if the weather is hot but our stay it cooled off quicky with the door and windows open. They provide the linen and a lantern. It is closer to the lake so has a good view of the water and perfect for watching the sun rise. Wish the primitive camp sites were a little bit more spaced out. Like that they have picnic tables at every site and the yurt and primitive sites have a fire pit/ grill at each of them as well. Reservation and pick up of the key was easy. The parking for the car wish was a little bit more clearly marked. Facilities were very clean and stocked.
Sep 24, 2023 · Jeanine BeisheimWe throughly enjoyed our stay here. Very spacious sites, some really private, we didn’t get a chance to fish but heard there are plenty of fish in the lake.
Mar 27, 2019 · Laurie MeschOnly reason this park doesn't get 5 stars is because there are no full hookups. This place is a gem. Spacious spots, well maintained green spaces and enforcement of park rules makes this place clean, relaxing and quiet.
