Beautiful secluded little campground. A lot of the spots are a little close together but there are a couple of secluded spots hidden away from others (we were in spot 11). There is no service and it's right next to a creek and beautiful forest. It's open until September 30th 2021 and closes for the season - Jennifer F

Edson Creek Campground Introduce

Nestled a mere four miles inland from the dramatic Oregon Coast, Edson Creek Campground offers a hidden sanctuary for those seeking peace, tranquility, and a genuine connection with nature. Far enough from Highway 101 to escape the coastal winds and fog, yet close enough to enjoy its attractions, this Bureau of Land Management (BLM) campground is a true gem for Oregon locals looking for an affordable and refreshing escape. It's the kind of place where the sounds of birds singing replace the hum of traffic, and the gentle breeze through the trees provides a natural coolness, even in summer.

Edson Creek Campground isn't about luxury hookups or bustling recreational facilities; it's about embracing the simple joys of camping. Visitors consistently praise its quiet ambiance, the presence of helpful camp hosts, and its proximity to both the serene Edson Creek and the Sixes River. Whether you're looking to cast a line, explore the surrounding forests, or simply unwind around a crackling campfire, Edson Creek provides the perfect backdrop. It’s an ideal spot for individuals, couples, and families to disconnect from the digital world and truly immerse themselves in Oregon’s beautiful natural environment.

Edson Creek Campground is conveniently located at Sixes River Road, Sixes, OR 97476, USA. For Oregonians, this means it’s situated in the scenic southern Oregon Coast region, easily accessible from U.S. Highway 101. To reach this serene spot, simply turn east onto Sixes River Road from Highway 101 and travel approximately four miles. You'll then turn left into the campground just before you cross the Edson Creek Bridge.

This location places it strategically for those traveling along the Oregon Coast between the charming towns of Bandon and Port Orford. Its inland position, just a short drive from the main coastal highway, offers a distinct advantage: a sheltered environment that often experiences less wind and fog compared to direct coastal campgrounds. This makes it a particularly appealing choice during the often-breezy summer months on the coast. Despite its secluded feel, Edson Creek Campground remains accessible by standard vehicles, making it suitable for a variety of camping setups, from tents to RVs. Its relative proximity to Port Orford (approximately 5 miles) also means that essential supplies or a quick trip to the coast for sightseeing, such as the famous Cape Blanco Lighthouse, are easily within reach.

  • Secluded and Peaceful Ambiance: Visitors consistently highlight the beautiful, secluded, and quiet nature of the campground, making it ideal for relaxation and escaping noise.
  • Proximity to Water: The campground is situated right next to Edson Creek and the Sixes River, offering opportunities for water play, swimming, and fishing.
  • Escape from Coastal Winds: Its inland location provides a welcome respite from the strong winds and fog often found directly on the Oregon Coast during summer.

  • Low Bug/Mosquito Presence: Reviewers frequently note the pleasant absence of bugs or mosquitoes, enhanced by the gentle breeze.
  • Variety of Sites: While some spots might be a little close, there are also secluded, hidden sites (like spot 11, as mentioned by a reviewer) for those desiring more privacy.
  • Wildlife and Forest Immersion: Surrounded by beautiful forest with tall red alder and myrtlewood trees, the campground offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and experiencing the lush Oregon ecosystem.
  • Activities: Popular activities include camping, fishing, boating, sightseeing, and water play in the Sixes River and Edson Creek. Panning for gold is also a popular activity on the Sixes River.
