The campground itself is nestled by a creek, with sites spread across both the west and east sides. While the specific road name isn't always widely publicized, access to the Dominguez-Escalante NCA generally involves travel along State Highway 141 or other county roads that lead into the conservation area from Whitewater or other nearby towns. Visitors should be prepared for gravel or dirt roads, which can vary in condition depending on recent weather. Some routes into the area, like the road to the upper Big Dominguez Campground trailhead, might even be passable by a Honda Civic during dry periods, while other times may require a high-clearance vehicle. It’s always advisable for Colorado locals to check current road conditions before heading out, especially during or after wet weather, as rockslides can occur.
