Dogwood Family Campground Reviews
Our favorite campground with our little teardrop trailer. Very large campground with varied sites- tent to RV with electricity. Surrounded by cedars and plenty of shade. Grounds well maintained and staff easy-going and friendly. Jennifer at the front booth was very helpful. Lots of trails in park and nearby. We’ll be back multiple times. Only 2 hours from San Diego.
Jul 07, 2025 · David HarrisLove this gem of a campground! The hosts are super friendly and helpful. They keep this campground absolutely pristine, even the bathrooms are very clean and well maintained. (No horrid smell when you walk in, no sticky mess left all over the floor, IYKYK). Many of the sites are private, though there are some that are pretty close together without much bush or trees to divide. However, I'd say most are pretty private - the sites in many cases are placed at different elevations so it's not just one big flat campground where you look out and see clear across the park. 10/10 would recommend this campground!! Can't wait to go back again. PS - we did see a male coyote several times wondering throughout the park, even though the park was pretty full of people.
Jun 08, 2025 · Tiffany ChamberlainI would say positive guy that checked us in was nice and also the custodian was super friendly. Aside from that the area we camped was super narrow we had to put our tent at a slant all the camping spaces are very close it wasn't kept. Obviously in camping there's dirt but the ground was piled with it and very uneven we all tripped in a hole. They say quiet times at 10pm yet we were told at 830 to lower our voices. Felt like we had to be in a library out in nature never had an experience like this although the restrooms were clean and showers ran hot I still wouldn't recommend this place as the other two lady workers didn't make it feel very welcoming and comfortable for us. If you don't mind being next to everyone and a smaller space then it's for you if not julian is a better option.
Jun 26, 2025 · Iman hGorgeous campground, with spacious sites that feel secluded andare well shaded due to all the trees. Free hot showers, large bear boxes for storing food, potable water spigots, really nice fire pits with high sides and grill top that can be rotated on or off. Most sites are somewhat elevated and slanted however we didn’t encounter any issues with this and there was a flat area to setup tent where we stayed. Nice hiking trails nearby overall fantastic will definitely return.
Apr 22, 2025 · Kimberly WorlThis was our first time in Dogwood with our extended family. We went before Memorial Day, so it was very quiet.LOCATION: Coming from the Los Angeles area, it was not far. Once we were off the 210, it was less than an hour going up the mountain. None of the kids got sick or anxious with the turns.POWER: We chose sites with electricity. You should bring a couple extension cables (at least 50-ft) and a power strip to have outlets near you. Everyone had power and cell phone service. With the power hookups we were able to use electric griddles, a coffeemaker, a refrigerated cooler, mattress inflaters, and charge our devices.WATER: The sites had toilets and hot showers nearby. It's close enough to not feel like a hike to get there. But at night it is dark so we had to make sure all the kids used the restroom before bed. A couple times kids had to go in the middle of the night in the pitch black.WEATHER: The weather in May was good -- about 70s in the day and 40s/50s at night. There were plenty of tall trees for shade, so we never took out a canopy. At night we could stay warm by the campfire until bedtime.OTHER: Each site had parking for 2 cars, space for a large tent or two smaller, a picnic table, a campfire spot, outlets, nearby restrooms and showers.
