Dispersed Campsite 6 Introduce
For Arizonans who prefer a rugged and authentic wilderness experience over the comforts of a developed campground, Dispersed Campsite 6 in the Prescott National Forest offers a compelling destination. As a dispersed campsite, it provides a much more primitive and self-sufficient form of camping, allowing you to truly immerse yourself in the natural surroundings. It’s a place to escape the routine, set up your tent among the beautiful junipers and pines, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Arizona wilderness. This type of camping is perfect for those who are willing to trade modern amenities for solitude, stunning views, and the thrill of being in a more remote setting.
This particular campsite is known for its beautiful, open areas with natural shade, a welcome feature in the Arizona landscape. It's a spot where you can enjoy a more rustic experience while still having a sense of a designated area to camp. Visitors have noted the presence of wildlife, adding to the genuine wilderness feel of the place. While the site is a part of a well-traveled dirt road that can be noisy at times with UTVs and 4x4s, the experience of being in a beautiful forested area with a sense of freedom is a major draw for many. It's a place where you get to experience the raw beauty of the Prescott Basin, complete with its unique flora and fauna.
Dispersed Campsite 6 is a part of the larger network of designated dispersed campsites in the Prescott Basin, an area that provides free camping on a first-come, first-served basis. This makes it an excellent option for a budget-friendly and spontaneous outdoor adventure.
Dispersed Campsite 6 is located on Forest Rd 9402 D, Prescott, AZ 86303, USA, placing it within the scenic Prescott National Forest. Its accessibility is a key factor to consider. While it is located in a beautiful area, some visitors have noted that the main access road, particularly Forest Road 53, can be challenging. A reviewer mentioned that unless you have a 4x4 vehicle, you may want to find an alternate route. This suggests that the road can be rough and might be difficult for standard vehicles.
The campsite itself is adjacent to a well-traveled dirt road. While this provides easy access to the site, it also contributes to some noise from passing off-road vehicles. This is a common trade-off with many dispersed camping spots that are not deep within the wilderness. For those with a rugged vehicle and a desire for a place to quickly set up camp in a scenic area, the accessibility is ideal. However, for those seeking absolute silence, it may not be the best fit. The close proximity to Prescott means you are not far from supplies and other services, a great convenience for a more primitive camping style.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Nice camp site with open areas with shade. Can be noisy next to road with UTV'S & 4x4's running up and down all night.
May 20 · Karl TurnerHad a great visit to Prescott Az. Nice wilderness area with wildlife spotted. Campsite is very small and Google maps took me through FR53. Unless you have 4x4, you may want to take an alternate route, which we did when leaving. Only 4 stars due to all dispersed campsites 6 are adjacent to a well traveled dirt road.
June 30 · Randy DickCamping here for 3 years and the residents are nightmarishly rude. They've driven up to my window like a McDonald's drive through. Wasted rangers time with false reports that had even the baffled admiting the residents are a Karen's. Ive had them go flying past my door in their atvs when they could drive further.I'm a volunteer. I'm cleaning these woods. And they're harassing the living hell outve me
July 03 · andrew whiteIt's a nice dispersed camping area. The spots are all very big with nice fire pits in most. It's not far from flagstaff, which is nice. It is extremely dusty. Everything and I mean everything. Everything inside the car and outside was absolutely layered with dust.We had a blast though.
June 17 · Terri Ford BellLots of spread out campsites. Temperature at night was way better than the surrounding areas making it perfect for camping. Great view point. The road is a little rough so I wouldn't attempt unless you are prepared for a rough bumpy ride.
