Whether you’re an avid angler, a keen hiker, or simply someone who enjoys the peace of a starry night sky, this campground offers a unique opportunity to explore and appreciate the natural wonders of our state. We'll delve into its specific features, the amenities it offers, and why it consistently receives high praise from visitors who cherish its untouched environment.
Deer Lakes Campground is strategically located at 2250 Co Rd 50, Delta, CO 81416, USA. Its address in Delta, Colorado, places it within a reasonable driving distance for many Colorado residents, yet far enough removed to offer that sought-after sense of remoteness. While it’s certainly off the beaten path, this contributes significantly to its appeal for those seeking a genuine wilderness experience away from crowded tourist areas. The journey to the campground itself is part of the adventure, winding through scenic routes that showcase the stunning Colorado landscape.
Accessibility to Deer Lakes Campground is generally good, though visitors should be prepared for a remote setting. The roads leading to the campground are well-maintained for general travel, but given its secluded nature, a vehicle capable of navigating rural roads is advisable. The reward for the journey is immediate: a sense of peace and isolation that is increasingly rare in popular recreational areas. Its location also provides excellent access to surrounding natural attractions, making it a perfect base for exploring the wider Delta area and beyond, with opportunities for extended hikes, fishing excursions, and wildlife viewing in the surrounding forests and mountains.
Despite its primitive nature, Deer Lakes Campground is equipped with essential services designed to enhance your camping experience while maintaining its rustic charm. These services are thoughtfully provided to ensure comfort and convenience without detracting from the natural environment.

Fire Rings: Each site is also furnished with a fire ring, allowing campers to safely build campfires for cooking, warmth, and evening relaxation. It’s important to always check current fire restrictions before lighting a fire.
Dumpsters: Newly reconstructed, the campground now includes dumpsters, providing a convenient way for campers to dispose of their waste responsibly. This helps maintain the cleanliness and pristine condition of the campground and surrounding natural areas.

Deer Lakes Campground Reviews
Not sure why this is listed as a hotel. It is a campground. Lovely, quiet and fairly primitive and very remote. Moose are regular visitors, fishing is good in the three lakes. The stars at night shine so brightly because of the remoteness thus lack of light pollution. 12 campsites, first come first served. Three brand new vault toilet buildings, bear boxes, picnic tables and fire rings in every site. Day use area with very reasonable fees for fishing, hiking and picnicking. Beautiful site.
Jun 29, 2025 · Lala DNewly reconstructed CG with toilets, dumpsters. However, No water and no cell on T-Mobile. Views are wonderful. 12 camp sites are freshly graveled and some are large pull thru. Bear boxes at each site. Managed by a concession $18/$9 senior, all sites FCFS, no reservations
Jun 12, 2025 · Greg D. LindWhat an amazing place to visit! The small lakes in this area look pristine! The wildlife is teaming aground. We saw ducks, deer, fish, beavers, birds and so much more! Wow! Being able to just sit and observe the surroundings was the best thing! The silence was deafening! LOVE IT!! We were told of moose and BEARS who visit the area but we did not see them this go round. Very much off the beaten path so using a 4x4 is likely a good idea. The path was pretty rough but not crazy by any stretch.
Jun 19, 2023 · R.S. DickersonBeautiful place! You can see deer, moose, beavers, and ducks. We never seem to catch much fish but others had a full stringer when we arrived. We brought hot dogs built a fire and watched the sun set.
Jun 25, 2020 · Adam HenkeNice little campground a few miles off the main road. Most sites are pretty small, but a few can fit a small trailer. The gem spot is site #7. The views are outstanding. This is a first-come, first-serve campground. The bathrooms are cleaned every few days, and we ran out of toilet paper. There is no cell service with Verizon or TMobile. Lake City is an amazing little town 25 mins away.
