Dawleys Sol Duc River Campground Reviews
I have camped on the East Coast, Arizona, New Mexico, Cali & Alaska & this was BY FAR my favorite camping spot. Beautiful, quiet & there was so much thought put into making it a special place. When you arrive there is a check in spot to fill out paperwork and pay. There’s also a wagon you can use to haul your stuff to your spot. I stayed in a walk-in river spot and just carried my pack on my back. Oh and the reviews about the spotless port-a-potties are TRUE! Seriously, I didn’t know clean/odorless port-a-potties even existed! The dishwashing area is great too. Water is non-potable so I just used my Sawyer filter and had no problem drinking it.Now, let’s talk about the camp host, Rachel. She is such a sweet, kind, helpful, patient & accommodating woman. I had to call her a bunch of times (not because of any issues with the campground) & every time I called I felt like I was talking to an old friend. My first night I had an issue with my fuel canister. I’ve used the same brand many times with my backpacking stove, but my stove would not screw on because of a little defect with the canister opening. I called Rachel, panicked, tired & hungry & she offered to bring me boiled water! I mean…how sweet can you get? Luckily, I was able to attach my stove (finally), but what a nice gesture. She also allowed me to switch spots to a drive in because I had to pack up my tent the night before my departure because of incoming rains (no good flying with a wet tent). If I am ever in the area I would 110% stay here again! Thank you, Rachel. Sorry we never got to meet in person. ~ “Kat @ site 6” 😊
Jun 02, 2025 · K GThis place is absolutely great! We have camped here twice now. The camp site's are kept clean, they have a table in them to sit at and a fire pit as well. Being able to look down at the river was nice to have. We loved listening to it as we fell asleep. They also have portable toilets that are kept clean, and a location to be able to wash camping dishes. This is most definitely a place we will visit again!
Oct 01, 2024 · Josh VilesWe really enjoyed our stay here! Clean porta potties and an area to clean you dishes etc. The area is very quiet, we were able to hear all kinds of wildlife in the early morning hours. Our site was big enough to set up 2 ten person tents and we still had plenty of room to walk around. We were also provided with a picnic table and fire ring
Jul 16, 2024 · Angel RioWonderful rustic campground with fairly private forest spots, some drive-in and some walk-in, in a central location for activities in the area. Good condition picnic tables with an umbrella in each. Pretty flat for tenting, but bring a tarp for the bottom to protect from rocks. We were next to the river, which was so peaceful to listen to. It also has a washing station stocked with dish soap and paper towels. Porta potties, but they are clean, no bugs, and stocked with hand sanitizer. The owner clearly works hard, loves the place, and was lovely to deal with.
Jul 28, 2024 · T KThis was one of our our favorite campgrounds on our 7-day trip around the peninsula. Our site was private and level, had a cute picnic table with an umbrella. Although there are limited facilities, the port-a-potties were EXTREMELY clean and the dishwashing station was a nice touch. Easy driving to many great locations in the National Forest and National Park.
