Davidson River Campground Reviews
Great NFS campground! Start with a super location with natural beauty, add well maintained campsites, decent restrooms, and friendly, knowledgeable staff, and you've got an absolute winner! The 'no generator' loops are a definite plus! You can occasionally hear a little traffic noise, but not enough that it should bother you. All in all, it's a great campground and well deserving of 5 stars!
Apr 01, 2025 · Marsh Jones (MNSwamp)I love it out here, I'm from Asheville. I take away a star because I drive 45 minutes to fish here, but after hurricane Helene there just hasn't much luck with fish this yr (since the end of March), I've only caught two small brook. I tired Lake Powhatan and they must really stock, beause 4 rainbow and a blue gill my first visit immediately. I really do love Davidson, they just need to stock more. I've been going here for years, and I've never had this problem until after the hurricane.
May 27, 2025 · CThe campground was hosted by lovely people. It was clean and well taken care of. There are a couple trailheads within walking distance and lots of space to explore. We loved being there with our huskies and our friends!
Feb 15, 2025 · Dawn GoldsmithWe stayed 3 nights with our 31ft camper in the dogwood loop. It was a nice site with some shade and some sun- not much privacy though. We did have electricity which was great! We loved the swimming hole and sliding rock being so close. The area surrounding the campground was a lot of fun- ice cream, food, breweries, etc. The only part we didn’t like were the bathrooms. They were gross. We have been to Lake Powhatan and North Mills River multiple times and the bathrooms are cleaned well. But at this campground they only cleaned once a day and they didn’t do a good job. Overall we enjoyed our experience.
Jun 30, 2024 · Kayte BurneyVery friendly and welcoming staff. The Hemlock circle was perfect and right on the river. We were able to go tubing down to the ice cream stand 2 hours down river. Very clean bathrooms and showers. They could use more electricity sites but overall it was a great experience in nature. Proximity to sliding rock and looking glass falls is perfect.
