Sitting on a peninsula, it has water on three side but minimal views from the campground. That does not matter. This charming park has so much to offer. A short walk to the river side opens up extraordinary view. A beach, ball park, walking trails and nature center. Nestled next to a capped off and since retired landfill. The landfill is now a gorgeous bird sanctuary with miles of walking trails. The MTA is a mile and a half away for your hour long train ride to the city. The campground itself is tight but easily accessible. Some sites are too short for longer rigs, so make sure you detail your rig length with the office when booking. We stayed in site 17 with was perfect. Full hook up with clean water and 50 amp service. Some sewer taps are behind the site, so have an extra section of sewer hose handy. The bathhouses are dated but cleaned daily. The showers are an issue. The water its heated by solar and will never get warm enough for even the most diehard cold shower fanatic. Westchester County is unapologetic about that so, it's not worth the fuss. If you have a tall rig, your GPS will send you into the abyss with low overpasses. Make sure you use RVLife or another method to avoid the low overpasses. Another word of caution and your GPS won't protect you from this; the roads leading into and out of the park are worse than roads in Bolivia. Potholes have potholes. If your tire pressure is too high, you may have a few items displaced in your RV. You've been warned. Cold showers, poor roads and low overpasses are not going to keep me away from this extraordinary campground. Highly recommended. We have met the most kind and friendly folks while camping here. We will be back. We camped at Croton Point Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

I was stressed, tired, and worried I’d end up stranded. That’s when Andrew and Sheldon came to my rescue.They didn’t just offer a quick fix or pass me along to someone else — they stayed with me, troubleshooting the issue, offering tools, support, and even moral encouragement. Their patience and determination turned what could have been a very difficult day into a moment of genuine gratitude.It’s not often you come across people who truly care about your experience, especially when it involves something as time-consuming as helping with an RV problem. These employees were professional, kind, and resourceful, and their efforts made a lasting impression on me and my family.To Andrew and Sheldon thank you. We had a Great stay here. The park is quite nice- the tent area is seperated from the RV area & cabins by about 600 yards. The fire pits are provided, and its Very Pleasant.Downside: kudzu is killing this park. The vines are choking every other plant to death, and soon, this will be a 1 foot tall kudzu patch unless intervention is done.There is beach swimming, and nice Clean showers too.But please NY- you need to address the kudzu soon

Great place to get a train into NYC. 1.5 miles to train station, we walked easily. Right into grand central (hint take the express, it’s much shorter. )The campground is quite nice. 4 stars as the bathrooms were not open near the RV and the whole place could use some upgrading. Nice trails to walk on as well. We are a small RV so would have preferred the tent area as the sites were more pleasant.

Croton Point Campground is modest little campground, located along the Hudson River within Croton Point Park in NY.In addition to camping, the park itself offers many of its own attractions, including swimming hiking, kayaking cabin rentals, and a host of other family oriented activities just along the Hudson.The park, which is honestly probably the larger attraction here, is located just an hour and a half outside of the city.This proximity is both its perk and its downfall, as the park itself but particularly the campground has become laden with all sorts of inexplicable and burdensome rules, endless guidelines, and restrictions only a New York State run bureaucracy could ever make sense of, let alone hope to justify.This includes all manner of restrictions on how you can camp, where you can camp, what equipment can be used and use in relation to what particular site you may have been lucky enough to reserve.Much of this you can understand while imagining what may have taken place here to bring them to such measures, but it doesn't make it any easier to contend with.In terms of the actual camping conditions Both the tenting section and RV sites are each very clustered together, and quite crowded, with regular patrols 🚓 (actual patrols) being made day and night, by both the Park Rangers and what appears to be general park staff members, all looking to see if you or your family might be doing something that they might consider outside of the guidelines or not in compliance with the many restrictions.This is not to say you can't possibly have a good time here. It just might mean being a bit more diligent toward reviewing the potential legitimacy of your normal camping routine to ensure it meets with many guidelines imposed while also making yourself comfortable with some fairly regular surveillance during your stay here.These all being things we hoped to get away from while camping ourselves It just turned out to be a bit much for our particular liking.
