Is the first camping site as you come in to the left. It has a fast running stream running by . Not a ton of shade but still pretty it had a picnic Table and a grill already. If you choose#1 is a single $20 a night #2 it is considered a double so they charge $36 a night..you will need cash to deposit in a envelope in a drop box. Oh there is no water hookups or bathrooms. Bring your own water!! Also there is no garbage cans whatever garbage you end up, you take out. - alicia Cervantes

Cottonwood Campground provides a very basic, primitive camping experience. Here are the services and amenities you can expect.

  • Camping Sites: The campground offers both single and double sites. A single site, like site #1, is suitable for a small group or family. A double site, such as #2, can accommodate a larger group. The pricing is transparent, with a single site costing $20 a night and a double site priced at $36 a night, paid in cash via a drop box. The sites are equipped with picnic tables and grills, making it easy to set up your camp and prepare meals.

  • No Water Hookups or Running Water: It is crucial to note that Cottonwood Campground does not have water hookups or any running water available. Campers must "bring your own water" for all needs, including drinking, cooking, and washing. This is a key detail that highlights the primitive nature of the site and the need for self-sufficiency.

  • No Bathrooms: There are no restrooms or toilet facilities at this campground. Campers must come prepared with their own solutions, practicing Leave No Trace principles to maintain the cleanliness of the area.

  • Pack It In, Pack It Out: The campground operates on a "pack it out" policy. There are no garbage cans, so visitors are required to take all of their trash with them when they leave. This practice helps preserve the natural environment and keeps the area pristine for future visitors.

Despite its primitive nature, Cottonwood Campground has several features and highlights that make it a compelling choice for a local camping trip.

  • A Fast-Running Stream: One of the most enchanting features is the fast-running stream that flows alongside the sites. The soothing sound of the water adds to the peaceful atmosphere and is a major draw for visitors. This natural feature creates a beautiful and serene environment, perfect for relaxing by the water's edge.

  • Good for Kids: The campground is noted as being "good for kids." The running stream, and the overall natural setting, provide a wonderful opportunity for children to explore and learn about the outdoors in a safe, contained environment. The small size of the campground also makes it easier to keep an eye on young adventurers.

  • Privacy and Seclusion: With only a few sites available, Cottonwood offers a level of privacy that is hard to find at larger, more popular campgrounds. The sites are described as being "pretty" with some shade, and the overall intimate setting means you won't be camping on top of your neighbors.

  • Picnic Tables and Grills: Each site is equipped with a picnic table and a grill, providing a convenient setup for cooking and dining. This simple amenity makes it easier to prepare meals and enjoy them outdoors, a staple of any good camping trip.

What makes Cottonwood Campground a worthwhile choice for a camping trip is its unique blend of rustic appeal and natural beauty. It is the perfect spot for those who want to truly "rough it" without venturing too far from home. The campground's primitive nature is not a drawback but rather its greatest asset, as it forces campers to be more connected with the environment and less reliant on modern conveniences. The absence of running water and bathrooms, and the "pack it out" policy, encourages a strong sense of personal responsibility and respect for nature, values that many Utahns hold dear. This type of camping experience is a fantastic way to teach children about self-sufficiency and environmental stewardship.

The peaceful and quiet setting, enhanced by the constant sound of the running stream, is a powerful draw for those seeking to escape the noise of daily life. While it's crucial to come prepared with everything you need, the reward is a truly authentic and unforgettable camping experience. In a world of overdeveloped recreational sites, Cottonwood Campground stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of simple, natural, and secluded outdoor escapes.
